How many of you are loving that gun ? I have one that is labeled "Truck Gun" and it is darn rough and ready. It is a bit heavy and is pretty firm to cock, but it shoots well and has plenty of zip !!
I'm buying one for a friend of mine that knows nothing about airguns but has a Ground Squirrel problem. I might buy another Vantage when I order his tomorrow ---- Whats your opinion of this gun -- I like it a lot !

Hi William.
I think that the Crosman Vantage makes for a good low cost air rifle, it did for me.
It replaced an older spring piston .117 cal. Gamo Whisper.
I had that .117 cal. Crosman Vantage for several years.
It was one of the earlier models, around the time when they first came out.
I bought it from PA and it was my first gas ram rifle.
The trigger took a little getting used to but it worked out just fine for me.
I never had any problems with the gas ram failing.
It proved to be a rugged, dependable, no frills hunting rifle.
I took a lot of small game with that Vantage.
Later on, I put a Titan thumb-hole stock on the Vantage that I had..
It looked like a mini version of the used Benjamin Trail NPXL 1100 that I picked up in the GTA Classifieds.
I gave the original Vantage rifle stock to 19 Sheridans who later gave it to Lt. Dan.
I now have a Crosman Redtail in .22 cal.
The Redtail has basically the same gas ram, only it comes with a factory moderator and has a plastic rifle stock.

those are B19s, essentially the chevy 350 of the airgun world (i just dated myself). I own 4 of them, all in different states of tune and all but 1 shoots better or as good as good german iron... My favorite is the weasel, a .22 benjamin prowler, with a 10.25 in barrel (cut and recrowned) and using a low velocity gas ram (542 fps with crosman premiers) and a nicely smoothed and modded with a RC bearing trigger. the gun is silent and accurate out to 25 yards (i mean 5 shots under a dime, easy), greatest pester ever.super easy to cock (it only pushes 10.3 fpe). I love these guns... they are very easy to tune and modify and they all look different at the end. I am now working on a .177 TR77 which will get shortened to 12 inches, detuned to 12 fpe plus the trigger mods, and it will get a weaver rail in the barrel and a dovetail to weaver mount on the rear, to accomodate AR15 open sights. with the tr77 stock and shortened it will look great.

I've had more than a few Nitro Piston guns, but honestly never a Vantage. Being the same basic action with various stocks and barrel options, I'm familiar with the Crosman B19 platform. They're very dependable guns, and are strong with ok accuracy. In my hands they're good to 30 yards or so for hunting/pesting. I recommend the .22 caliber NP guns over the .177's, but either or will do the deed. The Vantage having open sights is a great feature, especially if one runs into optic issues they can keep shooting.

For a down and dirty airgun the B-19 platform is very hard to beat and you can find parts readily !
