Title: Canadien Tire models?
Post by: TheOtherSprocket on July 02, 2022, 09:56:51 AM
Back in the late 70's I bought a used break barrel 177 pellet gun - I don't have a model number but it was made in Czech and was a small scale - like a youth size, maybe 36" overall.  I shot it until the piston finally broke in the early 90's.  It was probably bought at Canadian Tire.

Is there a resource to ID the make/model of those guns?  The Slavia logo looks familiar but the gun (sadly) is long gone and parts of my memory too.  I keep looking at screws and placements but haven't seen one that matches my memory.

Thanks for looking.

This site has images of old CZ airguns.  Click on the link and find the "next" icon at the bottom of the page:  http://www.vzduchovka.cz/prehled/60200/60200_en.html (http://www.vzduchovka.cz/prehled/60200/60200_en.html)
There is also a "previous" icon for paging the other way.

Here seems to be the index, if you had an idea of the model number:  http://www.vzduchovka.cz/prehled/seznam.html (http://www.vzduchovka.cz/prehled/seznam.html)

You might find more traction for this thread in the Vintage gate:  https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?board=124.0 (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?board=124.0)  You could notify on your own post to ask the mods to move it there.

it was probably a slavia 618, 619 or 620. tiny springers of very nice quality and now quite collectable.

Thanks for the pointers.  I recall a set of screws at the barrel - there was a main screw and a smaller screw to prevent the larger one backing out.

Sadly I know it's lost forever but of all the things from my youth, that might be the best thing I ever had.  Kept me in good grades and out of trouble - not to mention all the birds I kept out of the pears that became pies...

Sprocket,

I would looks for a CZ model with the right overall length.  I had a Slavia 620, but it was about 40" long.  So, low powered and light weight, despite its length.  Also had the retention screw for the barrel pivot.

After surfing the sites above, I think it was a 618 variant.  In any case, another needle to look for in my yard sale haystacks.  I don't plan on dropping a ton of $$ to replace it - I paid $7 USD for it, my life savings at the time!

you should be able to score a shooter fore 50 to 60$ and a minter for about 100.
