Title: Diana 34 EMS Wood Stock
Post by: BRAVO_4 on June 12, 2022, 10:46:03 PM
TLTR: I am looking for a wood stock for my new 34 EMS LOA Edition

Hello everyone, I am back on this forum after being away for a few years. I moved from Hawaii back to Texas after 10 years of military service. I sold all of my airguns when I left; anticipating that my new state would allow too much time for me to pursue my true passion: Long range precision shooting.
For the most part I was right. I have spent the last few years shooting long range and bass fishing with all of my free time.

Recently however, I have been missing my Diana collection dearly, and decided to start anew. So, I decided to start where I had started all those years ago; with a Diana 34. To my surprise however, I found that the 34 classic has been discontinued and replaced by the EMS. I also could only find the LOA version available, but at a good price of around $230 shipped, so I bought it.
I must say, I am impressed with the gun. The trigger was tough to dial in, but now it is great, and the gun itself is smooth and accurate, (after a disassembly and cleaning/relube) but I am just NOT a fan of polymer on an airgun. Me and this stock are just not going to be able to get along.
So to my point. I would like to know where I can turn to in order to purchase a wood stock for this new 34 EMS of mine.

Thank you to all of you who have stuck around to read this overly long post, and thank you for your replies.

I must say; it is good to be shooting airguns again.

Well good luck with that.
Perhaps a European dealer might be able to order a wood stock.
Expect to pay $$$ for one.  I would expect it to cost 1/2-2/3 what the whole gun costs.
Surprisingly Custom Stocks in the UK has no inletting for any Diana models.
Can you do inletting yourself?

Unfortunately, I cannot do inletting myself. Bummer.

But I will send a message to Hector. Thank you for all your replies.

I know I will end up paying more than the trouble is worth, I just didn't know I disliked polymer stocks so much on airguns.

He's done some caliber swaps of .177 to .22, some spring to gas ram swaps incase theres any other plans you have beyond the wood stock.

I own the now discontinued Diana 340 with beautiful curley walnut stock. The shape is the best ambidextrous I have ever seem. I also own the Diana Lawrence of Arabia synthetic stock. I don't mind the synthetic and find the sand color unique.
Perhaps Hector can find a Model 340 wood stock for you. You would love it. Do a google search for pictures of it.

I know a German shop that has replacing stocks for all the Diana's, even older ones like the 28 and the 34 classic. But doesn't has the one for the 34 EMS unfortunately  :(

I have a D 340 N-Tec with the fancy walnut hogsback stock.  Best OEM stock ever.

Yeah, I don't like the plastic stocks either.  They can make decent ones, guess they just don't put them on cheap airguns.

Which shop is that? Gotha, Schneider, or something else?

OK, SOoooooo

After a flurry of Emails back and forth this is the status:

Wooden stocks for the 34 EMS "Classic" ARE available.

Getting one from Germany would be a killer because of shipping.

The best course of action seems to be to get at least THREE pieces.
Expected European price will be about €150 (that's about US$180)

But, by getting THREE, we can lower the cost to a little over US$130, TWO would have to cost US$140 each, and one would have to go for US$150, simple pro-rating of associated costs (export inspection, shipping, import inspection, customs handling).

More than 3 pieces would be progressively less expensive, but only to a point (which I have not calculated).

So, if the people that have bought the LoA want a wooden "Classic" stock to go with it, the best bet is to get at least two or three friends interested.
Basically, you would have an EMS, at an EMS Classic price, but with two stocks and one limited run/numbered action.
Doesn't strike as a bad deal to me.

DO note that the 34 EMS stock is DIFFERENT from the 34 and the 340, as the forearm screws are ANGLED, providing a better bedding contact and improved potential accuracy.

The "hog's back" stock of the 340 adapted to the EMS geometry is not in the immediate plans, as the MOQ for stocks is 300 units. My best guess is that it will take at least 5 years to get back to the Pre-CoViD/Pre Ukranian conflict point where parts makers feel they have enough business to start making shorter runs.

So, get together and/or let me know if you want to  move forwards on this. If I receive several requests, I will put everyone in contact so that we can move forwards together.

Keep well and shoot straight!

Thank you so much for that effort, Hector. I personally am in for a wood stock, and I will be willing to throw in $200 for one, and the other two or however many can pay what is left of their share.

I understand if I am the only one that wants one, though. It's a lot of money relative to the amount that has been spent on the gun to begin with.

I'd be in for a wood stock.  Is anyone besides BRAVO_4 interested?  My rifle is rubbing in the plastic stock when I c0ck it.  Will a wood stock be any lighter?

Bolillo already knows what to do.

Order was sent, DIANA is working on it.
There is still time to add one stock.
