Title: What size robertson driver for crosman screws
Post by: MI Yeti on June 11, 2022, 01:50:13 PM
What size robertson driver do I need for the 22xx and 13xx grip frame screws? I am sick of having slotted screw drivers slip and scratch the frame. I plan to order a driver or 1/4 drive bit. One of the first things I do when modding a crosman it to swap to allen drive screws, but gotta take the oem screws out once.

Sadly I can't post a pic.  I bought a Kobalt 100 piece driver bit kit @ Lowe's for 20 bucks. It has every bit you will ever need for gun screws !!!

I bought this "GunMaster" set at Walmart but it is also available at other places like Optics Planet (https://www.opticsplanet.com/dac-technologies-gunmaster-33-piece-pro-driver-bit-set-38299.html)... best money spent at $12. ;)
It has flat, phlillips, allen, torx, philsner, and square bits all in one handy package.

Except not really,  because those flat blades aren't propey hollow ground with parallel tips  and they will not properly fit the slot in firearms and airgun screws.

What you really want is a Chapman set.

But you'll still want some proper normal Robertson drivers.
I reccomend Grace, the 3 PC set is I think $18 and you'll also get the number 1 which fits the plastic clamshell receiver guns like the 66 and previous generation of 760.
Maybe that current not a real 760 abomination as well.

When there are long standing American manufacturers making surprisingly affordable high quality tools, theres just no reason to go Chinese.

And when it comes to Chapman,  the Chinese stuff just doesn't come close.

It's more of an investment but you could have as much of a set as you'll need for about $50, so it's not exactly a major expense.
You can spend 2x that on a single aftermarket part for your Crosman build.
