Hey guys,
Today I went to the range and shot my 48 .177cal, and I used JSB heavy 10.2g. The range is 25 yards. I zero my gun with glove on my hand, by using loose hold, the group was pretty tight, most of them can be covered by a dime and some are half dime size. Later, the heat in the range made me sweat, so I took off my glove and kept shooting. Surprisingly the group moved half inch higher, and I shot couple groups, they all went to the same result. Then I put my clove on again, the group went back to the bull's eye. What a huge hold sensitive!! Do any change to shoot this magnum springer, you won't hit the same place. Do you guys have the similar situation? If any one here has a better shooting skill, please share with me.

obviously the glove give you a firmer hold on the gun and yes this is common springer's can be hold sensitive! :P
-
well, I never thought a glove can make such a difference...

I have a 48 in .177 cal and it will change poi by changing the position of my hand on the forearm.

Would a glove cause a firmer hold on the gun? I was thinking maybe it was the opposite- a tiny bit of cushioning and less friction. Hmm- interesting question.

well if it a leather glove you'll get no slippage which in turn gives you a tighter grip! :P

so do you recommend gloves?

this is really challenge shooters...

no I don't recomend gloves but if it works for you go for it, buy I have seen people use fingerless gloves for shooting :P

I almost never wear gloves, even if it's pretty cold, when punching paper. Not because I've noticed any POI shift (I've never checked and I don't doubt your observations), but because I like a more "tactile" feel from a bare hand. If my hands get too cold I usually take a break and put on a glove for a few minutes, poke the hands in a pocket or in severe cases, wuss out and call it a day. :-[ Now hunting would be different, as you may not have time to be fumbling with a glove and risk missing a shot.

I have found that any change in hand position or use of glove even use of a rest will change the poi, if that was not the way it was sighted in.
I use no gloves, except when it gets to around late December into January, February, then I will sight in with a glove on.
Here in Canada when your out at that time of year, you need something on your hands or your day ends as fast as it started, cause it gets freaking cold here.

We are a funny bunch....we love the challenge of a springer that not only requires placing the hand in the same place every time, the same pressure of hold, the same way of pulling the trigger, the same pellet, the frequently adjusted scope, the frequently tightened screws, the way we lean on our elbow or breath yada yada......
But we love our springers!

Den,
You've nailed it! I pull out my RWS 48 and practice, practice, practice. Love it!
My HW 100 [PCP] sits in the safe most of the time. As I've said before on these forums, it is so accurate that it is not much fun to shoot at paper targets. No challenge. But hunting is a different matter: that is where the the HW shines. Currently there is little to hunt here.
So the springer sees the daily use as I try to perfect my "form". The 48 is definitely more accurate than I can consistently hold.

Haha, it's pretty much the same here in Wisconsin.
