Title: Scales
Post by: Spacebus on April 18, 2022, 10:00:35 AM
I'm looking for a good scale, digital or mechanical, that can accurately weigh my cast ammo to at least the tenth of a grain, hundredth is preferred. My current digital scale weighs in grams and I bought it for making cider, not weighing ammo for consistency. Are there any suggestions? I don't know what the price range is for an accurate scale, but I would like to be on the "affordable" end of that.

Dj I was in that same spot you're in right now 6 years ago when I started casting pellets.  I bought the Gemini-20 and it's been an awesome scale. Just after  my last sentence I did a search,  wow they've almost doubled in price since I bought mine, here's what amazon is getting for them, I'd search ebay, you might find a better price ???

A few years ago I replaced my digital scale with advertised 0.01 gram accuracy with a new "Smart Weigh GEM20- 20g x 0.001 Grams, High Precision Digital Milligram Jewelry Scale, Reloading, Jewelry and Gems Scale, Calibration Weights and Tweezers Included " with advertised .001 gram accuracy (.001g= 0.01543236gr) and have been satisfied with it for weighing my pellets. 20g= 308.6472gr so I'm pretty sure it's adequate for cast "airgun pellets/bullets" and weighs in g, oz., ct., ozt., dwt and gn.

I have been quite happy with this one for a couple of years now.  It is a lot more stable than what I used to use and has a large display.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming! I especially like the scales with calibration weights.

DJ, if you have a Walmart near, there are several offered there.  Check online.
