Title: Beeman 1358 trigger come on
Post by: jjohnsonlta on April 07, 2022, 07:00:44 PM
Wow just got this bullpup the 1358. You got to be kidding me.  I can't hardly believe that out of the box Beeman couldn't have done better on this trigger. The first stage is a mile long and the second not much shorter. It feels like it has a 1 in. overall pull. I knew going in that people said the trigger was this way. Until I shot it for myself to see,  I now know what they mean. Even being low budget this trigger is horrible. I hope I can do something to make this better.

It can be made better. There are some vids floating around.
I like mine but they do require tinkering. My biggest issue was the floppy cocking handle.

i ended up buying off Amazon from a seller called NTK Outdoors. The gun was double boxed with extra cardboard padding and a fragile glass stick on the box. They also included a sample packet of pellets.

I forgot to add I love the way this cocks. This front lever is so easy and smooth. The magazines are working well and no preload needed to load. I think if I can get the trigger sorted I am going to really like this being my first bullpup.

The Amazon seller NTK Outdoors even send a letter stating that if I had any trouble or concerns please contact them and they would make things right. I thought that was pretty nice for them to stand by what they sold. The price was more than it was at PA with the discount but by applying a Amazon discount I got mine for 159.00. Can't beat that for a good price.

SUCCESS

I found the post on putting a ballpoint pen spring in place of the original trigger spring. I now have a 1 lb 14 oz trigger pull weight. The first stage is super light till it hits the second stage. I also just cut the spring to length instead of heating to compress down to the original length of stock spring. Stuck the cut end in the spring hole so the end not cut would be against the trigger blade.

As far as first stage pull length it was mentioned something about filing some threads off the rod. Not sure but it seems to me if the rod was lengthened it would help shorten the first stage pull length? I would think this would position the trigger further back but not sure. Just pulling the pin on the small connection piece to trigger so it could be turned to lengthen would do it but I could be totally wrong in my thinking.

I wanted to add to this previous post. I couldn't live with the length of the first stage trigger pull and l and decided to do something about it. I found another posting saying that the trigger rod did indeed need to be shortened to adjust the first stage pull length. After removing the pin that goes through the trigger block and removing the trigger with the rod attached and my replacement pen spring I removed the pin holding the rod connector to the rod. You can now unscrew this connector from the trigger rod. The rod is threaded aprox with 1/2 in worth of threads. I used a fine file and removed 1/4 in off the threaded end. I then reinstalled the connector. You will notice that when tightened all the way on that maybe one thread on the rod is now visible  compared to 1/4 in worth before. Now reassemble and you're done.
I used the original shear screw which I tightened all the way in using locktite on the threads which is located near the rear. All in all it's a night and day difference from the stock setup and well worth the effort to do this mod if you ask me.
