Title: Hatsan QE system question.
Post by: Trucker3573 on April 06, 2022, 11:49:54 AM
I’m experiencing problems with this system or more accurately the aftermarket baffle I put in it. This is a reman hatsan gun and it came missing a stock baffle so I just bought a one piece off eBay. Now I will say the gun has been very accurate before with this thing installed. Today was all over the place. Took this piece out and the gun shot pretty well at 33 yards. I noticed that the baffle didn’t fit completely tight between the barrel nut and barrel cap. You could hear a slight clink back and forth. I’m almost positive that before that clink wasn’t present. I remember removing and reinstalling the barrel nut at some point. Guessing I tightened it a tad more this time creating a bit of space. My question is could that tiny gap cause the accuracy issue? I figure it must be because the gun has been super accurate before with it in there. I was going to buy a thin washer to put between it and the cap to make sure it’s rock solid in there. If that doesn’t work maybe drill it out a tad as maybe there is clipping going on. Maybe drill it out a tad and then use a small fine grit file possibly to smooth it after ??  What do you guys think?

if it worked before and it isn't broken the baffle should be fine, I would say if you tightened the shroud nut, that may have pulled the barrel from it's normal seating, I would Remove the shroud and check the barrel and the barrel O-rings for damage also check the breech O-ring, make sure the barrel is seated properly and the barrel grub screws are in the indents on the barrel, the grub screw should be snug tight, about 10-15 inch pounds, the shroud nut should be snug tight too, about 5 ft lbs, bad O-rings can affect the accuracy of the gun, if it was shooting good before and all of a sudden it's shooting bad, Suspect O-rings at breech or Barrel.

More likely clipping than that little bit of movement.  Don’t have to have the pellet run full-on to a baffle to be a clip, just barely grazing one is more than enough….and not every ebay seller know his product.  Normally a full on  baffle hit will just blow the guts out of the system and scatter it on the ground.

Giving the good seller’s credit, if it were designed for a .177 and you are using the baffles on a .22 or .25,  might be an unavoidable clip,

Can usually detect it with a close visual inspection...easier with a lite colored baffle to see a little bit of pellet lead mark.

To get ride of the fore-aft movement, a spacer under the end cap.  If it were aligned right, wouldn’t really matter if it moved a tiny bit….would be blown all the way forward each shot  any way.
