Dad gummit!

I’ve got a prophet 1 in my cart. Now this.

I want the prophet cuz of it’s simplicity compared to the fx. Now they make a more complicated rti.

I think I still want the simpler one.

Thanks a lot for throwing a kink in my decision process…lol

I have found a way to resist the urge to buy the next best airgun:  No more money for that.

Does not mean that I am disinterested.  Just that I will need to sell a few items before I can buy a new one.

Just a small comparison of FX Maverick (90 cc plenum) and RTI Prophet II (70 cc plenum)

FX Maverick Copact & VP Edition
Copact (500mm barrel)
4.5 (.177): up to 27 Joule - 20ft / lbs.
5.5 (.22): up to 75 Joule - 55ft / lbs
VP Edition (600mm barrel)
6.35 (.25): up to 107 Joule - 79ft / lbs
7.62 (.30): up to 145 Joule - 107ft / lbs

RTI Prophet II
(500mm barrel)
4.5 (.177): up to 50 Joule - 37ft / lbs.
5.5 (.22): up to 90 Joule - 65ft / lbs
(600mm barrel)
6.35 (.25): up to 105 Joule - 77ft / lbs
7.62 (.30): up to 135 Joule - 100ft / lbs

Apparently RTI was wrong about something for .25 and .30 calibers

The aspect I found interesting is that when one looks at the Prophet II minimum and max FPE for each caliber, and the shot-count at those power levels, the efficiency drops off badly for the high FPE settings.   Look at the table shown at this time stamp: https://youtu.be/F4Y-EAdf-CI?t=1397

I am not sure how FX compares with regard to efficiency as a function of FPE, but my impression from memory is that it is better at high FPE than this RTI.   This may be of no consequence, if one plans to use the Prophet II at moderate power.

I went ahead with the Prophet. Seems like a balanced valve and a larger plenum are the only significant (to me) upgrades.
