I'm thinking about buying a RWS 34 .22cal. from Midsouth Shooter. Is that a good deal? I really wan't to do a review of the RWS 34 vs. beeman RS2.
-
So, what is the deal?
Admittedly, I am biased toward the RWS based on my limited experience. :D
-
That sounds like a good deal. $187 is the best I've seen as most dealers are pricing them at a little over $200.
I think you will like the 34. It's a solid performer.
-
if it were me and I say this because I've had them I'd spend the the few extra bucks and buy a new T06 model 34 it's worth it to buy it for the better trigger JMHO :P
-
The only reason I prefer the T05 instead of the T06 is that I like the open sights on the T05 model more than the T06 model. I can't stand fiber optics. They are either too big or too flimsy and I personally can't get as good of a sight picture.
-
I understand! :P

Great choice! The little bit of discussion you'll find on the board revolves around the 34 and 350's made from 2008-2010 with t05 triggers and a percentage of barrels sourced from China with the noted 12 lands instead of 8 lands in the barrel. Many feel the 12 lands are just wonderful and accurate...others have the 'china outsource fear' for resale. You could ask Midsouth to look down the barrel (unloaded please) and inform you of which it is and then make your choice.
At that price you won't be disappointed in either....that's about the price of a G%^&....did I say that???
Lastly...the t05 trigger is an excellent trigger...allow a skilled tuner to do his magic and you will be truly highly pleased!!
Enjoy your new Diana.

I really don't understand all the negativity concerning the T05 trigger.I have 2,(one on my 8 groove 350 and the other on my 34P),and to be perfectly honest, the R10 I just sold wasn't any better than either one of my T05's.
I haven't tried a T06,,but if it's better than my 2 T05's,it must be less than 3/4 pound and less than a 1/16 pull.
On the 12 versus 8 deal,,I can't fault my 12 groove 34P either,it's almost as accurate as my 8 groove 350,(But that things wicked accurate),lol.
No Disrespect intended guys,,I just think you need a little TLC on those T05's as mine Breaks like glass and is just over 1lb 5ozs pull.
Had to edit as it was 1lb 5 ozs not 1.5 oz's
-
Airgun depot just listed today one for $139 34 22 refurb...most likely t05
-
I wouldn't hesitate neither.The T05 34 is a sweet shooter.On the upside,,the 12 groove barrels shoot Fast and Accurate with the right pellet.Mine prefers H&N FTT's 14.66 grains.

Bandit did you adjust both of your sear adjustments? IMO I think the reason why the T05 is talked about the way it is is because Diana had a really good trigger the T01 that was very adjustable and didn't have to be sent to somebody to be made even better you could do it yourself without having to change much in the trigger group! then Diana came out with the T05 which had allot of plastic parts and it didn't have the adjustability of the T01, I'm not saying the T05 can't be made better and as a matter of fact their are some out there who can make them real good! but theirs nothing like being able to tune the trigger the way it is out of the box and get it down to say 4 to 6oz's you cannot do that with a T05 out of the box! 1 to 1.5lbs is good but most of them are 2 to 3lbs and that maybe good enough for some people but not being able to adjust it fully the way you want it with just the turn of a few screws IMO isn't a good trigger acceptable yes but not for me! I like a match adjustable grade trigger like the Rekord or CD trigger or other type like the Theoben, IMO trigger pull weight is critical for good accuracy along with all the other elements, I had to get rid of all my Diana T05 guns because I didn't feel the trigger were up to the control I needed for good accuracy once you get use to a match trigger it's hard to shoot a lesser grade trigger, a heavier pull weight trigger will pull you off target these are just my opinions and what works for me their nothing wrong with a T05 trigger if you use to that type of trigger I use to be able to shoot them well but not after using a better trigger like the Rekord or CD, This is one of the reasons Diana went back to a 2 stage fully adjustable unit thats all metal JMHO :P

Mark
You didn't state if you ever had one professionally worked on so that you could compare to a more expensive Rekord?
-
T05 is not bad out of the box. Compare to say a Crosman Titan out of the box and well its a great trigger. Now the 8 land versus the 12 land ....well when ya get a bad one its well horrible. The older front sights are much nicer versus the T06 plastic fiber optic YUCH. I hope they found you an older 8 land they are better than the 12 lands and some feel they are better than the newer 8 land ones(that are machined only for plastic front sights, unless you get the Anniversery Model)

I understand, I know a Pro tune makes a difference, I know how to tune airguns and triggers, it also has allot to do with the design and materials, I know what can be done to a T05 trigger but for the average Joe their not gonna spend the money or have the knowledge to make them right and here again were talking out of the box set ups and that what Diana has to look at not what we can make out of them! IMO one of Charlies triggers is way better than a T05 tuned in a Gamo or Chinese clone and its a drop in! :P

Hey Mark,,my T05 on my 34p isn't quite as good as my 350,(Not sure why),but the 350's is so easy to break and it's always been better even before I smoothed,Lubed and adjusted it.It was never really heavy,(Either one),but with a little TLC they both work just Great. The Rekord is better right out of the Box,but the T series triggers that I've done so far were all decent,,but I really wanted the 350's Better as now with the Vortek Kit performing the way it should,I really Love that rifle.
I had to measure the pull weight with a small spring type gauge, but I don't think it's off by much more than an once or two if any.
I like them both,,but the 350's my favorite.
-
good to hear Bandit! I've had some pretty good T05's I just like the other triggers better! :P
-
I have both of the 350's. 1 in the .177 12 land and have NO problems with it. The other is the .22 with the 8 land. Both are made in the 2008-2010. The TO5 IS GREAT ON BOTH. I may have just got lucky on the 12 land .177. Imagine that!!!! The .177 12 land is a straight shooter as the .22 8 land is as well. I am sure you will like the 34 for your needs. Don't think you will be unhappy this go around.
-
What pellets did your .177 end up liking the best???
-
So far I tried the RWS wad cutter type and they worked good and the discoveries are grouping great. As you know the discoverers are the same as the CPHP. I have 3 other bands and types but have not tried them since these are doing good.
-
the CPHP have worked decently in my 12 land 34 ...I am wondering if the CPL in the box are worth a try...might be abit more consistant pellet to pellet on fit in barrel???
-
Which ones are those the field or pointed 7.9 grains, 7.4 or 10.5. I think I am shooting the 10.5 HP.

Its a 34 so I am doing the lighter ones 7.9 gr .....it did not like the CPH domes in 10.5 gr.
-
Do a search. I think I read something here on them. I am shooting the heavy to slow mine down but it is a magnum. I am going to try some polymags tomorrow. They are not heavy I think they are around 8gr. and 16gr. in the .22.
-
Shot the polymags and have to say it digested them quite well. Lighter pellet shot little high but grouped good but the high is expected being 8gr vs 10.5gr

The T-05'd Diana 34 is an excellent rifle. Yes the triggers can be tuned to break very crisp, but nothing really smooths them out better than a lot of rounds down the pipe. My T-05 breaks very close in comparison to my Reckord triggered springers. JMHO, tjk
