Title: Considering selling my 1984 Sheridan Silver Streak.
Post by: RunsOnAir on February 17, 2022, 01:46:15 PM
Hello everyone.
I have a Sheridan silver streak from 1984 inherited from my wife's family (they had it since new in 1984).
A Previous post does show pictures before professional tune-up/rebuild and oiling of the stock here :
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=177200.msg156006937#msg156006937 (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=177200.msg156006937#msg156006937)
I will part with it, but am unsure what a fair trading price should be. What do you think?

I've observed E-Bay for a few months now, and seen (ridiculous) price tags all over the place, and some bidding wars that seemed more linked to egos than real value of the Sheridans.
I could try my luck there, but the sinking reputation of the platform for person to person transactions doesn't make it appealing at this point.

Please keep me in mind, I been wanting a Silver for a long time.
That said, in all honesty, I would have a "conflict of interest" if I were to make you an estimate of it's value.
It does have dome dings in the wood, but it is drilled for a rear peep 5D-SH already.
I would not be willing to pay the prices we are are now seeing on ebay.

I also find them ridiculous, and I'm on the selling side.

It was mentioned in the original post, but in case it was missed, unlike all the offers I've seen, this Sheridan was professionally overhauled by a Crosman repair service person in late 2020 and should be service free for 14 more years as per that person.

I think that this tread has run its course... nothing to see here.
Lets just say...
I have a Silver Streak inbound.

Actually, glad it worked out for both of you.

As does mine....
The problem there is that need, means and opportunity must arrive at the exact same point...  ;D

So glad you were able to be the winning bidder. Haha. I think everybody stayed out of this one just for you.

I will add that Ronan must be a standup guy. He deserves an ada boy since he didn’t go the bay route.

Hi Guys,
i did not want this to become a bidding war. I wanted to have an idea what a fair price would before placing an add in the classifieds.
i just happened to not be very patient and went the fast route.
Now, you can tease Scott/Hoosier Daddy, because he was very fast to shoo everyone away from the threads before higher offers than his could come my way  ;)

And to think I just gave my 342 away for free to a buddy who ended up moving and loosing contact with me.
I miss that gun and would like to own another,  but prices have gone crazy and at those prices I'm happy to do without one.

It's a joke incase anyone forgot to put on their sence of humor today.  :P

Shoo.. Shoo... Shoo... Y'all
I honestly I believe I offered a fair price at today's selling rates... 2 years ago I would have walked away for that much... But I think Ronan and I are both happy. ;)

The value of anything is what one is willing to sell it for and one is willing to pay.

I tried to twist Scott's arm for a quick sale, not the other way around  ;)

This being said, I made a slight miscalculation on the shipping costs / insurance from my neck of the woods  :o. Or maybe I went overkill on the packaging.  ::) In any case, I did my best to protect this Sheridan from a possible nuclear blast along the way to Scott's.

I don't mind those crazy ebay prices, if I'm selling.  ;)  I got over 400 bucks for a Streak last year.

Ronan,
I had no idea shipping was that much!
You actually took a loss from my original offer compared to what we later agreed upon "shipped".
I an going to split the shipping with you... so you will see more funds ASAP!

Please don't Scott!
The difference came at about $5, no one cares about that  ;)
I also very likely am 100% responsible for making the packaging heavier than necessary.
I didn't check and just assumed it wouldn't cost the same as shipping something from Krale.
I'm happy this Sheridan went to someone who loves those. The burn mark on the stock comes from a great family evening around a camp fire, I was told.

So am I, and my intent was to express that on the previous post, however it came out.
I did not intend my reaction to go in any direction except my own clueless-ness if that's a word.
We shook hands, and that is the end of it for me,even if I appreciate the offer  ;)

I was going to put my 342 on ebay, but since they will be sending out 1099K forms starting this year that scared me away. I'll wait for the airgun show in Columbus in June and do person to person.

342 you say?
Hmmm.

Just kidding.. I already got a nice one.  ;)
