Title: SAM Slugs?
Post by: MisterAP on February 12, 2022, 07:18:25 PM
I’m looking for anyones experiences with shooting slugs in the .22 SAM (semiautomatic Marauder).

Which slugs? What size? What grain? What lube, if any? And what were the results?

I’m looking for better performance when dispatching small to medium size pests.

Thanks!

I haven't heard of anyone successfully shooting slugs in the SAM.  A bit low on power for slugs, heavy choked barrel, and probable cycling problems.  You can increase power slightly, but not really enough for slugs.  The more power, then the bolt will cycle too soon.  Balancing act.

I would try heavy pellets, equal to what slugs you would like to run (see if it will cycle), and also push some through the barrel and see how tight of a choke you have.   Cycling problems quickly waste a mag.  Slugs will likely not feed well, ie they usually take more force to close the bolt.
