Is the umarex hand pump any better than the $50 generic hand pumps on Amazon? Specifically the one that comes with the origin, I believe I read somewhere it is a Hill pump and the price of the pump alone is over $140. I’m trying to figure out if it’s better to buy the origin (gun only) on Amazon and a $50 pump… OR… order from pyramyd with the pump included, a free extra mag and pellets for $349 minus GTA discount + shipping.
It comes out cheaper on Amazon but I don’t receive the detailed instructions on the pump connections/fittings and I don’t receive the (potentially) better pump. I’m 100% new to pcp’s and would rather not run to Ace to buy fittings that may not be included with the Amazon pump.
Which route would you suggest?

The Origin was my first PCP and I opted for the complete kit. At the time I ordered it there was no "rifle only" option but even if there was, I would still have bought the full kit. Dealing with separate sellers, waiting for this and the other to arrive... I ordered from Umarex and it came in a few days, double boxed, no fuss, no muss.

I’m leaning that way, a few more bucks without hassles.
Thank you

I don’t understand why the bundled pump would be any worse than the 50 dollar Chinese pumps? In fact I would think it was literally the exact same thing. However, literally everything I have read is that the bundled pump is 150% junk. Never read a good word about them where as the Chinese Amazon and eBay pumps have a pretty good reputation. There are refurb origins on eBay for 250 (gun only), what I would grab.

I bought the Origin only and a pump off Amazon. Saved some dollars and pump seems fine. If you buy the gun and pump together they have a three year warranty that covers the pump also. Something to consider. It wasn't long till I purchased a small dual voltage compressor off Ebay with a three year warranty. I usually fill from 2000 psi to 3100 psi and takes a little over a minute to do. Complete fill in three minutes.

My first PCP was also an Origin and I did get it with the pump.
The Umarex pump worked fine but I wanted a pump that would fold flat so I could carry it along in the soft case that I bought for the Origin. So I ordered the $50 pump on Amazon with the folding stand.
Not long after it arrived, the Umarex pump quit working. It did come with tools and seals to rebuild it, but I just set that pump aside and have been using the $50 pump ever since. It works every bit as well as the one that came with the gun and even works well enough to use on my AirForce PCP.

The pump that came with mine was a hot pile of garbage. Rebuilt it several times an never got more than a fill or two. And yes, I would give the pump time to cool after 50 strokes or so. The last time I rebuilt it I looked inside of the final stage bore and saw it was never polished.

That was my experience as well. That pump never worked for long. Bought one of those 'on sale for $30' chinese no-brand pumps and it's never failed. I don't doubt it's just dumb luck I got a decent one, but I'll never investigate further because hand pumping a PCP stinks and I switched to a compressor as quickly as I could afford to.
