Greetings from South Carolina,
I am returning to airguns after a 40 year hiatus and have decided to go with a PCP. I plan to purchase a Benjamin Marauder.
Benjamin has an Amazon store. They offer the Marauder in both wood and synthetic stocks at prices that seem too good to be true. I contacted Benjamin customer service and was told that the store was legitimate and that the guns offered there were new and not refurbished, closeouts, or returns. They said the Marauders were Gen 2 models. They are sold by and shipped from Amazon.
Has anyone had experience good or bad with purchasing a gun from Benjamin's Amazon store?
Is there a compelling reason that I should avoid purchasing a gun via Amazon?

I have purchased airguns and pellets from Amazon. The airguns are usually packaged pretty well, the pellets, not so much. One trick I have used is to click the box for it being a gift, they will double box it so the branding one the manufacturers box is not visible. This adds an extra layer of protection.

Well, so this is apparently where Crosman has been spending their online presence funds, as they have certainly putzed up their own website the last few years.
These many partnerships like this, well confuse the consumer. It is clearly stated "Shipped from Amazon.com" and "Sold by Amazon.com". Also stated is, "Shows what's inside and can’t be hidden." I cannot imagine (OK, I can image) amazon not properly double boxing the shipment. If purchased from Crosman, the rifle comes double boxed in a precisely fitted second box.
Regarding the Marauder rifle - you will hear much about it being obsolete, past its prime, and other such things. It is the same as it has always been, good, or blah. It is still a well made, strongly built rifle. As with all competing Chinese products, they can build things at much lower costs, and so it is with pcp rifles. I would not at all be surprised to hear (from honest sources, if there is any) such rifles can be produced for $100 manufacturing costs.
Excellent sale prices do turn up on occasional promotions by Crosman. I purchased my Marauder BP2564W, NIB (not refurb) direct from Crosman, including shipping for $320.00. Had I known that within a year, the Turkish walnut version would be released, I would have waited for that version.

LMBO Criag. Just watched that movie last night. And what is up with those sea shells? I have had pretty good luck with Amazon. And even better luck with Benjamin Crosman.

I personally wouldn’t hesitate on a marauder. Great support and warranty.

You may get a better deal direct from Crosman, not sure about any current discounts, I have my Marauder ;) But some one out there shopping now may be able to help.

I look around the current society and business models and think "Taco Bell". Few, and hard to locate, unique non-chain restaurants here.
I do like buying from Crosman.

That doesn't leave many options! Spring loaded plastic magazine seem to the the industry standard for many manufacturers!

Yeah.... I don't mind shooting guns that use $12 mags.
For me it's better than spending $50 for springs that deform pellets and orings that nick and break.

Purchased pellets from the Umarex store on Amazon, terrible packaging. They were RWS which has a harder lead alloy, still a large number of dented skirts.

Well, I took a chance and ordered my Marauder from Amazon.
When I placed the order, it said I could not order as a gift and that it would be shipped in the factory box. I was worried that it would be damaged in shipping.
It arrived today double boxed in great shape. I was pleasantly surprised that the cheek riser was wood. Most of the photos I have seen of the wood stock had the black synthetic cheek riser.
I am grateful that my experience ordering an airgun from Amazon went well.

This is the way they come direct from Crosman --> tight outer box, of an interesting assembly method vs having to try and get the product box out of the outer box.
For reasons of pure happenstance, every direct from Crosman airgun shipment has been handled perfectly by shippers. Big guns, little guns, CCS guns.
I still wonder about the Crosman - amazon partnership functionality.
