Title: Accuracy Lost and Found RWS 92
Post by: neric on August 30, 2010, 09:00:49 PM
Was noticing different, way off  POI from the last time I shot my scoped RWS 92.

Go to  move the elevation turret and it won't turn at all!!! >:(

THEN,,,,gracious,,,,I notice my scope is has moved back practically off the gun being held on by only one of the mounting posts :o

I just wasn't paying attention,,,,never had that happen before.  My other scoped springers have a scope stop-pin hole.   This gun does not have one.  I figured I'll just cinch it down real good and use loctite on it.

My lesson is,,,,if a springer gun doesn't have a stop-pin hole,,,,,it ain't gonna have a scope on it.

Not only that,,,evidently my cheap Center Pointe wasn't rated for 'springers.'  Its only good for bird watching now.

So I went to open sites and was getting practically one-holers at 15 yds.

This RWS 92 is a sweet little springer after I polished the trigger.  It used to be the creepiest trigger I had ever used.

And I'm living happily ever after again. ;)

you can put a scope stop on that goes on the dovetails.

Unless you bought the scope used, it ought to have a warranty.  Send it back.  And, as low powered as the 92 is, it should have held up.

I can't remember where I came across this scope,,,,It may have come with the gun.  The CRS (Can't Remember S@#%) syndrome comes to visit me sometimes.

Guess I'll look thru my records.

Actually it was a good thing for me with this scope failing.  It somewhat forced me to use open sites and I realize I can do pretty darn good with them.   I've been dependent on scopes perhaps too much.

What are you using for a scope mount? Are you using 2 piece or a one piece mount. Get a one piece with at least 3-4 bolts. If you ever take it apart for a tune then you can drill a scope stop hole at that time.

Buy a one piece mount and a scope from OpticsPlanet with free shipping. You can get a nice Tasco 3X9 AO Golden Antler for about $44.00 and a one piece 3 bolt mount for $15.00 all shipped for free.

I have that set up on a RWS93 that has NO scope stop. It's been tuned and has a more powerful spring (RWS320) and with a little finger nail polish the 3 bolt mount goes no were. There is also enough room on the mount to add 2 more bolt holes if your handy.
