Title: Diana Bandit
Post by: AirgunAddict68 on January 22, 2022, 12:09:10 PM
Hello!! I have a Diana bandit that’s leaking. I’ve never taken one of these apart before. I have a full print set to replace any o-rings that may be bad. I was wondering if there are any surprises waiting for me when I tear it down?? Springs jumping, small parts that may get lost? Difficulties taking it apart? It’s not a horrible leak, but I have to pump it from zero everytime I want to use it.. Any pointers for me??

I have a Bandit and a Chaser and have had them both apart for various reasons. I suggest you lay out a white flour sack towel to do your work on as some of the screws are small. As far as leaks, I have had both leak on the poppet seat, they just needed to be cleaned and all was OK again.

You should have gotten a small bag with a few O-rings and a couple of allan wrenches, I would not use those rings but use them to find replacements as I have yet to find a "kit" online.

The only o-ring I have replaced so far was the probe o-ring and I got a bag of 100 of them on Amazon for $3.

My storm ridder started to leak. My fix was to put some silicone grease on the fill prob and fill the gun. It must have lubed up the o-rings because now it holds air. Not for ever but for weeks before it starts to loss some pressure.

A common source of leaks is the fill cap assembly. On the inside of the cap there's a silver screw that holds an o-ring, and that o-ring frequently catches dust and other debris. Usually cleaning it off and reinstalling it is all that is needed.

Good to know! ;)

I've probably replaced every o-ring on the SPA PP/PR platform guns, so if you have some questions just ask. I've had my PP800/Bandit apart dozens of times and converted to .22 cal. They are pretty much a copy of the Crosman style breech on tube guns, but the trigger is way less complicated.

I do have some large pieces of cheesecloth in white. So that should work good. Also I searched far and wide for that o-ring bag.. I don’t think mine came with one. But after looking online for what seemed like weeks, I found a set at Pyramyd!! $14.99 I think I paid for it? There’s like 30 o-rings in there, all sizes!!!! I had heard the poppet was an issue from a few other posts i managed to read on a different forum. Well thanks for the replies.. I think I’m gonna dive in tomorrow..and get that sucker opened up, and fixed! It’s a bad ^&* pistol!! Just wish I could find optics (in stock) that aren’t $$$$$$$ I was looking at a BSA 3-7x for 99.00 but never in stock. Would love Burris, but don’t have the cash.
You all are awesome.. I’ll get back here if anything goes haywire or if I have questions..

When it comes time to push out the exhaust valve, I like to use wooden dowels or in my case a few plastic rods from a tomato cage. The first time I pushed the valve out it was in there very tight, and took a lot of force.

Even if you have the parts diagram, the o-ring measurements are not standard. I tried ordering every o-ring in bulk from the O-ring Source, but some of them are not quite right. The parts diagrams only list the thickness and one diameter, but that diameter might be inner or outer.
