Title: stoeger x-20 continued-er
Post by: stevemag on October 12, 2011, 12:22:05 AM
so i spent the weekend shooting the x20, OK....i hated it at first but it started to grow on me. at 10 yards i was sighting in the scope and wondering where shot 2,3,4 went when i realized they were going in the same hole... :o
i ordered i trigger, since you know, the old one was terrible. i smoothed out the little spring catch area of the safety (just a little)so now it is almost silent and doesn't take 15 pounds of pressure to push it in. i smoothed out the sharp edges of the stock(cut my thumb on it) i shimmed the rear sight that was still WAY off so now its usable.
i figure once its opened up for the trigger  i may as well go all the way.
is there i spring kit(or just a spring) like i put in my rws34(maccari) which will boost the power a bit(like it  did my 34)
preferably one that's not $80  bucks (like the 34)
or is there something else i should do ?

Hey Steve sorry I'm a little off topic but I'll ask anyways. Ok, I've got a Stoeger X 20 S in .22 and I love it. Perfect for kerping down noise pollution. I really really want another Stoeger... This time in .177 so it's easier on the pockets. My question is: Is your Stoeger quiet? My Beeman RS2 sounds like a trainwreck compared to my X 20 S.

i would say its about the same as my rws34 (people will hear it), if thats any help . i think it a little over 700 fps.

So basically it will sound like a "1000 fps" springer? Like a phantom, or my RS2?

here ya go. since the stoeger is the b19 platform any crosman springer or gamo "1000 fps" model springer internals will fit.

a good tune will help with the sound, and you'll like it alot more.

I put a tarantula spring in my x20 along with a custom gamo seal from maccari.
17 fpe with super domes and super h points.
They will still here the whack.

Where do you get a tarantula spring? How many coils does it have? Generally speaking, how much will it boost velocity? Average with a CPHP is between 670-720.

I bought both.. the tarantula spring has more coils and is probably stronger.
I have the E3650 sitting on the shelf for when the stoeger blows a spring and an extra seal. For the price it was worth buying both.
These are what I got..

the seals

the tarantula is a nice spring but you will NEED a spring compressor as these are not set springs and are long.
