Hi,
I'm new to air rifles, bought an RWS 48 177, and have put about 750 pellets through the rifle. I'm enjoying trying to find my groove and developing good technique but tight, consistent groups evade me. I've just ordered a bunch of JSB Exacts and Meisterkugelns - maybe they'll help me become a group meister. The 48 is challenging with it's weight and recoil... but I love it!
I'm hoping to meet some RWS48 veterans to get tips on scopes, customizations, etc - and it'd be great to meet fellow enthusiasts in MD. Living in Baltimore City I'm limited in terms of range options. For now, it's fun destroying all kinds of objects at 18 yards (the longest, safe distance I can muster in my yard). I might be a hunter because I can whack suspended ping-pong balls swaying in the wind consistently but fail miserably on paper targets. Rabbits and squirrels prance right through my line of sight as I plink but I'm waiting for a moving target that's more deserving of my ire!

Welcome to the GTA Ilex (cool username btw). :)
Yes, you will find RWS 48 veterans here, and several threads on the 48 in the German Gate forum- check it out. :)
Nice to have you here, and feel free to put in your $.02. ;D

Welcome Ilex to the GTA. I bet you will find lots of information on the 48 plus lots of folks willing to help you out with the grouping problems. This forum is well known for being helpful and supportive to all airgunners. The only problem here you may run into is the need for more guns. It is quite addictive.
We also have a great library and search feature that will come in handy as you are doing research. Oh and don't forget, the guys in the hunting gate want to hear all about your hits and misses!! (plus pics!)
Welcome,
joe

Welcome, the 48 is a handful, even for veteran shooters. Ask for tips and suggestions on accuracy/hold from the folks in the German Gate and Air Gun Gate. There is a definite technique and you will master it.
PS be sure to check all your stcock screws and trigger guard screws before shooting, and your scope mount screws too, maybe a little bit of blue loctite on the (cleaned) threads as needed.

Thank you to the moderators - I'm looking forward to digging around the forum / site for info (and putting in my $.03).
Saade - Yep, it's a handful but in a beastly good way. All rifle/mount screws are checked regularly - I'm on it. I'm dialing in my light hold and it's working so, I'll be sure and check out the German gate for the zen. (I'm thinking I'll upgrade the scope when my skills merit it - and when I do, I'll get a mount built for the rifle). Thanks!

Welcome to the GTA. Excellant choice for a gun. I have 2 of them. A 177, and a 22. Both super powerful and super accurate.

Welcome to the GTA Family. There will be plenty of people to help you manage the finer techniques of the 48 in the German gate for sure. Happy shooting!
