Hey everyone, I just happened upon what I believe is a early 1st version Crosman 101. It looks to be in surprisingly good shape with the exception of a missing rear sight. I believe that is a pretty easy part to find. If anyone has any information for me I’m all ears! I know there is a ton of info on these boards, and I know I’ll be combing them for tips and tricks over the next few weeks/months as a I work on getting this back to shooting condition.
I will add photos as soon as I can figure out how to do so!

I think there is a 20 post minimum. Go to the welcome hate and post some welcomes.
Looking forward to seeing your project. There are some great folks here to help identify the make of your rifle.

Thanks guys, I didn’t even think about the minimum post requirement. I’ve had an account on here for years but never actually posted. I will go welcome some folks and then stop back and re-attempt to get some photos up of this beauty.
I appreciate you all stopping to say hello!

Hey Cody... what is your profession?
I work for Evolution Gun Works - we produce picatinny rails and rings for several hundred powder burner applications as well as a full line of 1911 parts and micro-red sight mounts for pistols as well. We’ve been in business for 30 years and pride ourselves on producing everything in house with domestic materials.

I think I’m pretty lucky to own two FX dreamline rifles! I’d love to have an Impact though!

I’m trying my best!! Hopefully tonight or tomorrow I’ll be able to get some uploaded. I’ve been enjoying reading through the other thread on the 101, there is a TON of great info there.

Hey Cody... are there really Quaker's in Quakertown PA?
Yes! Our town was founded by Quakers! Not sure how many remain but we still have a Friends Meeting House here. Our claim to fame was housing the Liberty Bell overnight in 1777!

Tough one, depends on what you’re using the weapon for. Wood is so classic but synthetic works best in less than ideal conditions.

Hey Cody.... are you single, married , or other?
Married with two kids; 7 year old daughter and almost 3 year old son!
One more post to go!

Now just a matter of figuring out the GTA photo upload maze ;) Tiny Pic, flicker, and Postimmage are a few apps that can make your photos fit in the GTA albums. I just set my phone to take smaller photo files, and upload to my PC using Bluetooth.

Alright folks, the moment you've all been waiting so anxiously for! Here are some photos of the new (to me!) Crosman 101. I believe based on my reading that this is one of the early Series 1 (First series?) models. It seems as though everything is there and correct, minus the rear sight. I will leave it to you experts to school more on what I've got!

Nice find, your going to enjoy getting it up and going again. I suggest checking with Rick at Precision Pellet for a complete rear sight bridge assembly and he has seals for these if it needs resealed.
As for the rear sight the early 101’s I have seen and both that I own have what is called a Tombstone design peep sight mounted on the bridge.
As mentioned the steel barrels were blued and not painted. Looking at your pictures it appears the compression tube may not be completely seated in the receiver as there are threads showing. The other factor that indicates it may not be seated all the way in the tube is the barrel does not appear to extend out to a flush position with the front sight barrel band. This may have been done by a past owner who intended to restore this 101 and removed the paint on both the tube and receiver.
Again very nice find and looking forward to watching your progress.

Hello Cody,
If your looking for a production date, then I'd tentatively say circa 1926. If you'd like to know what is original or not on your rifle, Here is what can be determined from the pics posted.....
Firstly, the compression tube and cocking hammer on it are not original to an "A stamped rifle. The air hole should be on the left and the face of the cocking hammer should be flat instead of convex. Plus the early Crosman 101's had a front sight bolt and screw with slotted heads, instead of a pin and spring clip.
Would you mind posting a sharp pic of the pump rod guide? It will be visible through the slot with the pump lever open.
Overall it's an interesting example of an early 101. Definitely a keeper. Thanks for posting.

Looks like yours is just like mine. The sight on mine is a tombstone type so I bet that is what yours should be.
-
The sight bridge and Tombstone peep that Lokey provided the picture of is exactly what both rifles need. The Tomstone peep piece is available at JG Airguns. However, the sight bridge may pose a slight challenge to find, Rick at Precision Pellet or Baker Airguns or possibly Mike Baker (sight member) may have one or the complete assembly.

I like the casting marks on the right side of the receiver. Makes it appear to have pins or bolts holding things together, gives it an interesting look, to me.
I recently got a 102. It shoots but I think it will shoot better after a going-through.

Terry I selfishly hope you do a rebuild thread. I’d like to see more data on the fps of these Crosman’s using the different internals.
