Title: A couple questions on the Air Arms S510
Post by: Smaug2 on December 13, 2021, 05:36:09 PM
I have an S510 Xtra Superlight FAC. Great gun.

The magazines are not advancing reliably now, as they used to. Does anyone have experience on what needs to be replaced to fix them?

Looking at the magazines, they don't seem to have any wear that would explain it. Looking at the pawl that moves up and down, it has kind of a sharp tip, but it's still pretty sharp.

Any drawings or repair instructions you've come across would also be helpful.

Last thing: I need to order some O-rings that retain the pellets in the magazines. What size are they?

Thanks!

Jeremy, I’m out of town right now. I did replace an oring on my magazine and have many spares as I had to buy a bunch at once. Cannot remember where I found the size. I’ll be home this wkd and will follow this thread.  If you don’t get the info on the size I’ll follow up with you. May even be able to send you some spares.
As far as indexing the mag have had zero issue.  No ideas.  Mine is S510 carbine.

Uh.  I screwed up. The orings that I purchased are for my Daystate mag. I pulled out the S510 and see the magazine is not the one that I had the oring go bad on.
The ones I have are 22mmx1.5mm.  Maybe work for you?  Did you ever find out the correct size?

Thanks for looking and trying. I wrote down the info and will just order some in bulk.

Actually, I might not keep the gun. It is quiet and lights-out accurate with a great trigger, but it’s long. We’ll see how the Urban is. If it’s not good, I’ll sell them both and maybe get another Brocock or an FX Wildcat…

I remember someone who made top tier magazines for the AA S510/S410 a couple of years ago.

I think it was RC Machine & Tool.

He also made aluminum (yes, and not like the current super yucky 3D-printed stuff, sorry!) single-shot trays for these rifles.

The OEM mags are fine, but the pawl in the action that rotates the mags have a thin tip and seem to wear. Then, the mags are less reliable. I get one misfeed every twenty shots or so. A guy in my club who has one says it’s time to replace that lever.

I think these rifles were originally designed as single shot, and the repeater action was a late adaption.

S400: single shot, bolt action
S500: single shot, side lever action
S410: repeater, bolt action
S510: repeater, side lever action

I have the S500.

Personally, I don't like magazine type airguns  ;D

It's handy when out in the field, not to have to fumble around for pellets. Fun when plinking, too. I agree it's not needed for target shooting and is a legitimate way to save a couple hundred bucks.

In my local field target club, the guys almost 100% shoot single shot guns, insisting that they're more accurate. But they have to wear this ridiculous little sack of pellets on a string around their neck...  ;D

True, sir  ;D

Mine wasn't meant to be a hunter (too pretty, lol!), just for target- shooting.
