Title: The Power of Advertising!
Post by: Shoot Straight on October 10, 2011, 06:05:54 PM
I was at Bass Pro Shops to day and noticed when I was in the air gun section the only guns I see people pick up are Gamo air guns. Its like they completely ignor all the other ones. Its like they don't exist. Its not that the other AGs. are poor quality. Most of the guns are just as good or even better, like RWS or Crosman and many others. I'm not trying dis Gamo  I'm just making an observation that Gamo is the majority of air guns that are being advertised on tv and endorsed by hunting and shooting shows; this isn't the first time I've noticed it I've seen it two other times in that the customer picks up and looks at only Gamo rifles. I think there might be another reason people see a Gamo and wan't to get one is because of the higher velocity some of the guns are Questionably able to shoot. I've noticed a lot of American shooters not all are speed freaks, faster is better. But enough of that, velocity is for a different topic. What I,m trying to say is that advertising Really works. If any one can relate to this please share.thanks.

Gamo have done a great job in making faster and faster spring guns and also marketing the syn stock "black rifle" look on many of them.

This is what catches the eye of the 16 to 22 yr old crowd, the same folks who ask the store clerk if they can try the gun and then remark that it really "cracks" so it must be powerful. Never ever buy and un-boxed, stored in the rack spring gun from any of these big-box stores, many are already dry-fired and 1/2 way to the scrap heap.
