Title: Keeping my airgun cocked
Post by: bumps991 on July 09, 2010, 08:49:14 AM
Yes I have read the info that was posted and that was for 1-2-3 wks etc.
My question: Will there be spring loss if say out hunting and your rifle is cocked for 1-2 hrs walking or sitting or whatever. Or you are punching paper and you leave your piece sit for a bit. I mean like I go into the area of  " Holy s--t is that cocked YET !! ???

An hour or so isn't a big deal.  The danger there is that having left the springer cocked for a while, you forget that it is cocked.  If your attention span is as short as mine, that can be, say, 5 minutes or so.  It is a good habit to get into to "empty" a springer by firing it into the ground or a pellet trap every time you put it up.  As for hunting situations, you can partially cock a springer enough to load a pellet without fully cocking it.  Then, if you need a quick shot, all you have to do is cock the rifle.
