The problem is the short magazine will not take projectiles over .390 in length. Who would date such a gal when the Bighorn is now available?
Well I did a year or so ago, when the Bighorn was not available.
But wanting to shoot longer slugs like the excellent MPMolds 252-46/44-HP. That slug will almost function reliability, but is a couple thousands too long and hangs up on the magazine loading hole.
I purchased a new Kral magazine to see the difference, and what a difference, better made and not only takes the 252-44/46, but also the .43 length MPMolds bt round nose cast bullet.
So I had a few options, go buy a hand mill, that’s hillbilly talk for a 10 inch flat (&#^((&^* file and enlarge the Kratos magazine window. Sounds difficult, however one winter I snowed myself in with a new Uberti 44 sw Russian model and a hacksaw and two new files, when the snow melted 5 months later, I had a 5 inch S&W New model #3 that I SASS competed with and won the Oregon Srate Black Cartridge title, so it is doable.
Other options were to file the underside of the magazine clear cover at the loading port so it could slip over the base of the 252-44/46-hp. I actually did my first magazine that way. On the 2nd magazine, I loosened the set screw that holds the screw that determines the pressure that plate has and adjusted it.
In the end I now have two magazines that will function with the 252-44/46-HP.
The Kratos is a great rifle, but for the money, Troy Hammer has a better option for diy bullet casters.
Now on another subject, I really like this forum, however the spell check function on this forum was designed by an idiot who has to be the by product of a brother/sister union. The description of a flat mill file, which includes the term that also describes those born of a unmarried couple is by no means a profanity, something that seems to have gone over the head of the Idiot who wrote that program also.

It was a word added to the filter by a now deceased admin. IIRC he was quite religious and may have added some words that he may not have liked but others dont mind.

We talk about killing stuff all the time, George Carlin the comedian, said kill should be listed as obscene and the f word should be a word of good times and feelings.
My take on it all is none of the profanity we use was used in biblical times, different language, so anything is on the table. Bear in mind when I was growing up, if someone used that “F” word around women, it was but kicking time.
But my moniker on the Yellow forum says how I feel. I used the Alis “unrepentantsinner, a name I took from Charlie Askins book of the same name. Now that pizzed off a lot of religious folks on the yellow, I could care less. As I always told new women in my life, “I have a lot of rough edges.”

I think some were added more of a joke than an offence. Most words dont bother me sometimes the context means all the difference.

I say go for it. I just converted my KAM(SPA) P12 single shot to multi-shot using gauntlet magazines. I could mill the opening at 2 different 90* angles but still wound up with a small knob in both corners because the slot doesn't go all the way through. I finally decided to scrape the remaining offending bits out with a 1/2" wood working chisel. Not real pretty looking at the bare metal, but actually pretty smooth. I may leave it or then again I might tape it up and spray paint it, might also find out how to anodize Al. Used to anodize Titanium all the time when I made custom folding pocket knives.
One problem I ran into on my conversion was I removed almost 1/4" of the breach. My probe still extends into that window by that amount. I need to move the allen screw on the hammer forward by 1/4" to allow the probe to move out of the window. Probably go to the hardware store tomorrow and pick up a tap, or get some SAE allen screws to match what I already have on hand.
Good luck!

Thanks Ken, I shot two magazines of my cast HP slugs today throughs those modded magazine without a hitch at 70 FPE.
The Kral magazine mod would be easy, as it appears that the Kratos designers simply added a border to the rear of the Kratos magazine window to fit that offending skinny magazine. Filing away some of that ‘border’ would be all that is needed. The probe goes beyond that border and into the receiver. The Kratos has a magazine catch, so maybe the Kral/Kratos catch would line up.
Filers used to be a common occupation at arms factories in the 19th century, who knows maybe a 0ast life experience.
But that chore is on the Bach burner now.

Years ago I heard that "apprentice machinist" were given a piece of steel and told to file it into a square block. Supposedly they had to do that to pass part of their test. Don't know if there is any truth to it or not...LOL
I know I used to use the same type file you mentioned, and I would sharpen the machetes we used on the survey crew. No one could figure out how to get an edge sharp enough to shave hair off of your arm with a file. It's easy if you know how to "draw file". Of coarse that was 30 or more years ago. I don't know if you can buy a decent file now.

I used to shoot Sharps rifles, a 1878 and a 1874, the raw receivers were said to be filed by filers to a final rough shape.
One of the funniest George Carlton routines was him using a western as an example, where the bandito tells the Sheriff, “if you don’t leave town by sunset, I will kill you”. Carlin maintained if the Bandito had replaced kill with the “F” word the Sheriff would have been, well put at ease if you will, therefore the “F” word was far less offensive than the Kill word.
In truth, I have killed 51 elk, but I only did it for the meat, not beastuality.
The “F” word seems to be a universally used word these days in other languages. When traveling, I hear it used in foreign languages when I travel in Asia, the finger is used more though and truly us a universal/international sign. It does make me feel like I am back home when I am driving in asia though. ;D
Having written all this jibberish, this spell check program used here should have been stillborn.
One of the wisest lessons I took from the Oregon State Police Academy 50 years ago is that profane speech directed at you it us just a word, nothing to get excited about. I used to tell errant drivers on traffic stops, Why yes my mother is in fact a bixch, but the reason we are having this discussion is that you were doing 90 mph in a 75 zone, and smile when I said it.

My spell check is base off of google chrome not the forum.

My wife says Facebook is worse.
Thing is at 72, 2 years of college and Writing two books, I find myself functionally illiterate. I am pretty good at spelling and can type a modest 60 wpm with my eyes closed, used to read two Louis L’amour novel in a afternoon and can’t read unaided now. I type on a iPad with a cursed tiny keyboard and can’t see the keys as my fingers touch them, add in that spelling program and it gets complicated.
The censorship thing is TrueLy irritating. My first forum being the old TAG forum, where everything was on the table, that and having freedom of religion, I can folliow whatever skydaddy I want, or not. Just don’t like someone else’s crammed down my throat.
And that is enough, let’s get back to airguns.

I understand.
I have thought about instead of doing my Brod in 257 but putting my 257 barrel in kral nemesis instead but it does what I desire quite well and that is to long range plink. Its a 36" barrel so I can probably still do it but I dont know if it can flow well enough to achieve what I want in reason. The Brod with a DC valve can some what do what I want with tempered expectations.

Insanity,
Same here, I am looking at two options, get a TJ barrel for the Kratos, I should be able to get close to 80 FPE with the other nods I have done, or simply buy the Bighorn 25 and get 79-80 out of the box. I have watched everything I can find about the Bighorn and find it impressive. Either way Troy is the go to guy on Kral and it’s products.
I have a regulated tank for the Kratos, so I can pick it up to shoot Kings at a sane velocity, energy/velocity tables indicate the Bighorn would put Kings well into the sonic level, and use the Bighorn for heavier stuff. And, I now have a Kral magazine to justify buying the Bighorn, that and a lovely enabler wife encouraging me.
BTW, my problems with spelling apps, and anti profanity apps, are peculiar to me and my life’s journey, others most likely do not have those problems.
