So I rarely get a chance to get the air guns out past 20 yards and frankly much past 35-40 my skill level starts to drop off like a barrel down Niagra Falls with most non PCP air guns. Today, however, I took a me day and went out to the range and stretched out my 97K and didn't do too badly. Now like any good fish story one must have at least a couple of excuses for the one that got away so here are mine. :D
-The sun was directly in front of me starting out. That was PITA
-A had a dude, nice guy, right next to me shooting a short barreled .450 Bushmaster with God's own muzzle brake. That was a weee bit distracting. :D
So there are my excuses. The wind was fairly calm with the occasional left to right gust but nothing too difficult and the weather was PERFECT.

Range was approximately 55 yards

So on to the shooting. Range was somewhere between 50-60 yards. I am calling it 55 yards.
Ironically my first shots of the day, with the sun in my eyes ended up being my best group.

Next group I opened up. This is all me.

I am getting back in control

I finish fairly strong (for me)

All in all great fun and I ran a bunch of .22lr today as well. Its rare I get to spend a couple hours at the range without being rushed so today was very nice.
As always, take care and shoot safe,
Chris

The reason for the low groups is I didn’t want to dork with my zero and my scope is a simple cross hair with no range estimating/mil dots etc. so I was dropping them a little low.

Nice job Chris. That blue stock is stunning.

Great work with that 97, Chris. We have the same blue lam 97 and if I had to pick our most reliably accurate under lever, it would be the blue lam. Our AA under levers have shot smaller groups on some days, but other days, not so hot. The blue lam, though, never seems to have a bad day. My only issue with it is the weight. Strictly a bench gun for me.

Nice shooting Chris. The laminate stocks are gorgeous!

Fine shooting, nice gun, nice range. Weekend 'fore last at our monthly fun shoot near Cross, S.C. I was shooting, among other guns, my .177 B26-2 with a UTG 4--16x40 AO mil lum scope at 25 and 50 yard. A bud lased them at 21 and 45. My pace count ain't what it was when I was a young Infantry Sargent First class.
Our bud who owns the land was pumping up some tanks so I asked him if I could shoot his far target. First bud lased it at 64 or 67 yards, don't remember. It as an 8 inch target like yours. I got 10 on the target out of about 13-14 shots. I had to wait for the gust to die down before I pulled the trigger. Good day for an old man.
I trade my 56th or 470th for a 97 lam. I really like the Rekord trigger, even the clones on some of my Chinese guns. Later.

Great shooting with a stunner-looking 97K.
I'd be lucky to replicate what you did.

They are 3 inch “shoot and see/splatterbursts” or whatever. The paper is 8.5x11 with 2 targets pasted on each page.

Well now hopefully you understand the value of having a scope with holdover points?

PS hopefully you had "ears" at the range?

I’m a GUN GUY. I don’t trek to the range just to shoot airguns. I always have excellent ears on for anything more then an air gun and frankly some higher powered air guns as well. :)
I do have mil dot scopes on other rifles but I just really like these Nikons. They are very clear and have a great eye box and do everything I need 99% of the time. Today…..1%. :), but a little “Kentucky mathematics” got me in there. :)

Nice shooting at 55 yards, Chris!

Great pattern with a absolutely beautiful rifle

I meant yours are the same type, not size. I figured yours were 5 inch or less. 3 inch more impressive. I'm happy with my 10 out of 13 or 15 on an 8 inch stickem-splatter at 64 yards with my old B26-2 from FD with a MM tune. Not sure I could do it again any time soon.
