I probably shoot my 97 the least of my guns. It's heavy, only moderately powered and not as easy to use as a break barrel, so for whatever reason it just doesn't do "IT" for me. It's even been up for sale a few times. I accidentally found this cocking aid on ebay and rolled the dice on it. Much to my pleasant surprise the piece was made really nice and fit well. After installing it I found myself shooting the gun longer than I used to. It became obvious that the unsure hold on the skinny smooth cocking lever was subconsciously detracting from my enjoyment. I'm really happy with this simple addition. It made a world of difference for me.

Very neat!
Is that the elusive laminated green stock by any chance?
Beautiful guns, if I didn't already have the two HW97's (blue laminated .22 & synthetic .177) I'd probably nag you on when you were selling again ;D
That grip does look interesting. I just may have to get a pair. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah Bayman, I've had (2) HW77's & a HW97 - sold them all because of lack of use. Beautiful guns/machines, but I just enjoyed my Break Barrels more.

Yeah it's the only 97 I own. It was a Special Edition over in Europe a few years ago. I always liked the green stock but prefer the looks of the 97 over the 77 so when I seen it on the Mundilar website I had to have it.
I can't recommend the grip enough. It made it so much nicer to shoot I rotated it back in shooting line up. I put the R1 away in its place.
Most of my guns are accurate but this gun is bankable accurate. I've often thought about selling it, but then it'll shoot a half inch group at 50 yds and thought quickly goes away.

Ron,
Glad you finally found out that the ergonomics of springers is fundamental to our shooting pleasure.
I wish more people/manufacturers would understand that. 8) :o

That 97 sure is a stallion ,.always room for modifications . Perfect setup , scope position and hight. Work of art , nice job. When it comes time for another air rifle a scoped 97 is my next . The underlever grip has set screws to position?

Yes there's two set screws that hold the grip in place. I normally don't like anything that'll leave permanent scars but the grip makes enough difference to make it worthwhile. Plus I don't have plans on removing the grip and I could always replace the lever if I had to.

Ron,
These are what I use:

Non-maring set screws. They hold tight too. ;)

PS FWIW- They are available in ally steel too.

Good information. Thank you.
I was just shooting the 97 before bed. Such a simple addition makes it so much nicer to shoot.

Glad I read this topic. The info on the non marring set screws is new to me and I will use them in the future. Thanks Yogi.
