Title: Ten Dimes challenge target??
Post by: Bayman on October 25, 2021, 09:58:47 AM
I downloaded and printed this ten dimes challenge target and the bulls are bigger than a dime. Is this a printer scaling error or is the additional size to accommodate for center to center measurements??
Thanks
Ron

Only a guess here Ron but it looks like the margins are "narrow" for the sheet.

With print-your-own targets like this, the target maker "should" put a "one inch" line on the target.  And a metric line, maybe 3cm, for the metric folks.
That way, those that print the target know that it is printing to proper scale.

There is a line in the instructions
"You must use the target marked for the caliber of your rifle."
That tells me that the target has been adjusted for pellet size.  So while it is called "ten dime," the target size probably is not a dime.

The instructions are wierd.
"Any shot not touching the outer ring is a miss and you fail."
So a shot dead center in the gray = a miss ????

I just found this target online and thought I'd check it out.  Yep, same question about the instructions.  How is it a miss if you perfectly center your shot?

If the shot has to be touching the Black Ring, would make more sense to call it a doughnut than a dime maybe. I also would have thought a center shot would be good though.

I think it's a translation issue, but I believe the instructions are talking about edge shots.

The original 10-Dimes target did not have this border.  I prefer this version of the target.

You're right, the scale is incorrect. The bulls are larger than a dime. When you print you can change the scale in the print dialog box to something else, like 90%, and it will print at the correct size.

This target makes more sense, no confusing outer ring.
