Nickel is darn good.
Do you have a spotting scope or do have to walk down range to see your groups?

Surprise!! ;D

I am having a similar experience with my HW95. I am shooting more accurately with a peep sight than I do with a scope. Frustrating for sure.

The droop on your R9 is probably the cause of so many of your scope failures. Trying to adjust droop out with your scope's turret is a bad idea. It's not good to have scope turrets at any "max adjustment" because weak spring tension on the erector assembly causes the zero setting to "jump around" and it also trashes the scope internals, especially for a "springer" which is hard on scopes to begin with.
If Pyramyd Air would not replace your rifle you are left with either shimming the scope, using a droop compensation mount, bending the barrel, or as you are now, just resorting to open sights or peeps.

Could not get nickel size but first shots cold this morning at 75 yards open sight cphp.177

The way the sun and shade is makes it hard to see and hold a solid aim point

The silver pellet tin is 3 ".  And the brown is 2-1/2"  snuff can bottom

Forgot to add ..

Set your rear sight blade all the  way down flat.

Maybe one or two clicks from tighten down flat.   Leave some of its spring to be relaxed.( Don't over mash it down)

Shoot 20 yards and see how it hits.

The sights flat with the barrel should be fairly close with line of shot to target with in reason.

At that short of range the pellet ain't dropping

I'd say you should be 1-1/2 +/- low then work your rear sight up slow as needed.
