At the risk adding to my rep as the local FWB Sport enabler, thought I'd share the results of a shooting session earlier in the week.
Hubby and I decided it was too nice a day not to do some air gun shooting in the backyard, so we grabbed some of our favorite PCPs and headed to the bench set up at 50 yards. We hadn't been shooting in awhile, so we thought it would be best to freshen up with the PCPs. On an impulse, though, I decided to grab one of the FWB Sports and hopefully add a few shots with it sometime during the session.
My PCP of choice was my vintage Daystate CR97, which is a big heavy target grade PCP. No surprise at all, then, when it was printing half inch or less at 50 yards on a consistent basis. Meanwhile, hubby was doing almost as well with our CZ 200S. We could have stopped right there knowing we had another excellent shooting session with the PCPs.

I hadn't shot the FWB Sport in awhile, though, so I just had to give it some shooting time, too. Now, apples and oranges doesn't come close to describing the difference between shooting the Daystate and the FWB. More like apples and pumpkins or apples and ... whatever. Absolutely no gun movement at all when shooting the big heavy Daystate and it's whisper quiet to boot. As for the FWB Sport, if you've never shot one ... let's just say it will tell you in a big way that you are shooting a springer, right from the first shot.

Shot one quick group of 5 to check the scope, using this Sport's favorite pellet in the 8.64 FTTs. Had one flyer, but it was totally me, getting re-acquainted with the Sport's recoil cycle. Then shot three groups for size and called it a day.
I'll show you group two and three, first. Group three (bottom group) was my last group of the day and I shot it after adjusting the scope to move the group to the center of the 2" bulls I was using.

It was the first group, though, that put the FWB Sport in my personal best record book. This group ties my best ever springer group at 50 yards, shot six years back with my TX200 MKIII.

As always, the Daystate PCP delivers, but as the years go by, it won't be the gun I remember from this shooting session. I probably won't remember that I was shooting a PCP at all. :)

Excellent 50 yd groups Joanie, definitely a day for the record books. You have truly conquered that FWB SPORT.
-
Beats 99.99 % of PCP groups, Miss J ;D
-
Great shooting, Joanie!!!
-
That is AMAZING. That puts the vast majority of my 19-20 yard groups to shame.
-
Those groups are beyond impressive! -bes

And no electronic button trigger either ;D
PB guys will again protest ;)

That's better than my 30 yard groups, way better.

The FWB Sport is definitely my favorite breakbarrel. Diana 340 is a very close second favorite gas piston breakbarrel. I bought the Diana Luxus version with curley Walnut stock. Both rifles perform and look perfect in every way. Both prefer Air Arms and/or JSB 8.4 pellets.
By the way, I also have a Daystate CR94. I will never sell this tack driver.

Nice, nice, nice ! Great results :D
The FWB Sport is about the only premium springer that I haven't shot. I am not the best springer shooter out there, but the potential that the FWB Sport shows is very tempting to shoot one ever !

I AM A PB GUY!!! :). That group is likely better then any .22LR group from me at 50 yards. If not better at least equal and I certainly can’t turn in a .22lr group anywhere close to that on demand even with first rate ammo.

Wow! Thank you all for the nice comments. I appreciate it so much. Old granny me and the FWB Sport are undoubtedly an odd couple of sorts, but maybe that's why I like it so much.
As for the Daystate, I sometimes blame it or sometimes credit it for keeping one foot in the PCP world. Otherwise, I would have gone all springer long ago. I do enjoy shooting springers right alongside PCPs, but my sentimental favorite has always been and will always be springers, in particular break barrel springers, since I've been shooting break barrels for so long.
-
NCG,
Your shooting always AMAZES me. :D :D
Maybe in my dreams I will shoot as well. ;)

Just wow. That’s all…..that’s all I can say about this
-
Amazingly outstanding!
Yep, my best days won't even touch that level of skill Joanie. Great shooting.

That's amazing shooting Joanie. I couldn't match that with my powder burners on my best day. Forget springers.

I know what you mean ;D
4 shots into the same hole, then a stray one ruins the whole shebang:

At least I found out that the Summit Precision carbon fiber barrel shoots very well with SK Pistol Match at 50 yards ;D
Sorry for the mention of rimfire, lady and gents!

North Country
That's some mighty fine shooting with really nice rifles . I can see you guys take good care of your firearms , being able to have a set up in your back yard , well let's say life is good. Shooting like that at that distance outdoors will keep a smile on your face for a long time . I bet you gave those rifles some extra T L C after shooting like that. Be Well.

Thanks, again, folks. As those of you who own these Sports know, there are the other type of Sport shooting sessions, too, the ones that are you scratch your head. Have had my share of those, but I've been shooting the gun enough this summer that the Sport is now a predictable shooter for me. Time to dust off the HWs and do more shooting with them.
-
Super nice springer shooting. Definitely shows you have your bench technique down pat and can just let the rifle shine. :D 8)

Country
I doubt very much there's dust on any of your shooters.
-
Mighty fine shooting there young lady!!!! ;D
-
Thank-you (especially for the young part :)).

Ahe, he, he ;D
Anyway, I think North Country Gent always has excuses for being outshot all the time ;D

Joanne,
I know you are a clicker :D. How long does it take you to go from shooting at 30 yards to 50 yards.
Also, aren't you close to max elevation on your Nikon or Leupold's at 50 yards?
Thanks,
-Yogi

About as long as it takes me to walk twenty yards. :)
Seriously, the biggest issue for me at 50 yards is waiting for a day when I don't have a breeze to fight. I can still shoot good groups at 30 yards with a light breeze as long as it's steady from one direction. Any breeze at 50 yards, though, is a deal breaker when shooting for group size. On those days, I just shoot steel for fun.
As for the scopes, I have plenty of elevation adjustment left at 50 yards, probably because I use low or medium height rings. Running out of elevation has only been an issue when I've had to use high rings.
I always start every session with a scope adjustment group or two, then re-adjust as needed, even when going back and forth between 30 and 50 yards. No big deal. Usually a matter of only 4 or 5 shots. Resetting a scope or peep sight is second nature to me. Goes back to my earliest days of shooting when our shooting coach would give us a good chewing out if we didn't shoot a group to check the zero on the sights before shooting for score each and every shooting session.
And it's a good way to begin a session with springers, anyway, since we all know springers can change their POI mysteriously at times.
Different story back in the days when I was hunting. Then I used hold over and hold under all the time.
-
Thanks Joanne,
It seems that everytime I go to the rangeI need to readjust my zero by about 4-5 clicks. No ig deal, but I am always surprised that my zero from 4 days ago is no longer the same.
Once I get back on zero, it stays on zero the entire shooting session. Soft case?

Yogi, it happens to me all the time with springers when shooting them from a rest and I just take them right from the gun safe and out the door to the backyard range. I think it's just the nature of springers, shooting them from a rest. Not a big deal for my springer shooting, since I'm just shooting targets for fun.
I actually do most of my springer shooting without a rest and I find that they are MUCH more consistent shooting them that way in terms of holding their zero/POI over the course of many shooting sessions. Works for me, since that's my favorite way to shoot air guns. As soon as I even brace one arm against something for added support, though, the springers start to get fussy, again.
When shooting the Sport from a rest, I have a VERY specific routine I follow for each and every shot. It's not quite the same as the routine I use for shooting other springers from a rest, either. Just something I've worked up for the Sport over the course of a lot of Sport shooting.
And I do shoot the Sport without a rest quite a bit. Weight-wise, the scoped Sport with that little Leupold is right at the upper limit of what I can comfortably handle when shooting without a rest. I also have another Sport set up with a Burris Fastfire red dot that gets a lot of use, too.
The weight issue is a biggie for me since I do so much shooting without a rest. It's why I don't shoot my under levers much, anymore
-
Wow! Those are great groups at 50 yards.
-
Thanks, Brian. Appreciate it. The new FWB Sport is inherently very accurate. It's my job to get that accuracy out of it and it can be a challenge (headache) some days, thanks to the sharp recoil. The good news about shooting the Sport is that shooting other springers, afterwards, is somewhat tame. :)

Nice.
