Title: Hammerli Pneuma fill problem with fx pump
Post by: xschug3 on October 06, 2011, 10:06:47 AM
Hi guys...I need some help. I've got the Pneuma probe attached to my FX pump and for some reason I'm not able to fill my Hammerli Pneuma. It currently has 0 psi air in the cylinder.

I push the male fill probe into the hole onto the end of the Pneuma cylinder. It doesn't seem to fit real snug or snap in place. I begin pumping and the FX pump gauge shows the needle increase to between 40-50 PSI and then it drops back down and I begin to hear air seeping out of the fill probe every time I pump.
What's going on? I've made sure all the fittings on the gun are tight and yes, the circular bleed valve on the pump is tightened down.

I pulled up the pneuma owners manual on umarex website and it does say to apply a little silicone grease to the 2 o-rings on the fill probe. I'v even done that, and I'm still not getting a secure fit into the cylinder....? I'm also still not getting the air to go into the cylinder. It seems like there is a seal or something that is closed and not allowing the air in, similar to a check valve or something. I'm just guessing...don't know what else to do.

What else could be going wrong? Please, anyone with some ideas help me out.... ???

From what you described, it looks like one of those two o rings on fill probe is damaged, and its leaking air. Replace them, and lube with silicone grease.
As for the air cylinder itself, if it is all empty, I don't know does many Pneuma owners know that, until the cylinder reaches 50 bar (from empty), it will most likely leak air through valve, and therefore barrel. When filling with pump, you can notice that, if you fill it with tank, one gets over 50 bar limit rather fast and it is not that noticeable.

Agree...sounds like one (or both) of the probe o-rings is leaking.  Replace the o-rings.  Is easy enough to cut a bite out of those o-rings when inserting or removing if they catch the edge of the hole/port then are suppose to fit into.... have done it...better to grease the probe o-rings with a touch of silicon grease ever fill(or at least every other fill) and to insert and remove the probe without the pump hose attached( which lets you be sure it is going in dead straight).

the stock fill probe that came with the gun was always giving me hard time, with inserting and pulling out.
then I got this one http://www.bestfittings.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=456 (http://www.bestfittings.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=456) and its smooth operation!

If you didn't cock the gun the hammer will push the valve open at low psi.

If the valve is held open by the hammer you shouldn't be able to build ANY pressure.... and the air would be leaking out of the breech (or the barrel if the bolt is closed)....
