Title: Going to get my Stoeger tomorrow!
Post by: Mr. Grendel on October 03, 2011, 10:55:17 PM
Greetings all!  I'm new to adult airguns and this site is fantastic.  Look forward to enjoying my new hobby and learning how to tune my Stoeger. ;D

I would like to know if I could get a conversion kit for a gas ram.  I saw that some of the members have done this conversion on this model and the x20 and would like to either send the rifle off or if its not too intense, to try the conversion myself with the needed parts.

i've had a  couple of x10's.  basic de-bur/lube/seals/grt-3 job is a breeze and will work wonders on these even though  theyshoot well out of the box

Thanks for the information!  Still would like to gas ram it in the future to make it as quiet as possible.

Congrats on the gun, and welcome to the site. From what I've read, the pistons are not cheap, plus you need a custom top hat guide, and other work.    Not fully sure on this gun though.

However, for probably the same cost you can get a full tune, new spring, new seals, and a full kick ^&* de-bur and lube job.  Just pm Shadow and have him do the work on it.  You may want to see how it shoots now, and wait for the tune up, until you have a few pellets down range.  That would at least make sure the barrel gets seasoned, and you don't have a warranty once it's been opened up.  If you go the DIY route you will need a spring compressor, and several other supplies.  You can search the library for more details.

Thank you for the heads up.  I'll take your advice and get some trigger time with it first.

Welcome to the GTA, Mr. Grendel.  This is a great place to talk about and enjoy airguns including the Stoegers.  I'm sure there will be some who can chime in with answers to how to mod your gun.  We look forward to hearing more about your experiences.

Zeroed the rifle at 25 yards today....  She diesels just like I was told and needs to be tuned or shot out.  I'm going to strip her down and wipe as much excess oil off as I can without a complete stripdown.  Aside from that, It's a wonderful shooter, decently quiet and I expect the accuracy will settle down with time.  I really need to get the aftermarket trigger and I will think about a full tune after shooting more this weekend.  Thank you all for your support.

Almost forgot... The last airgun I owned was a Daisy Av anti 853 and the power difference has me giddy.  I really didn't realize how different a springer can be.  I know it's apples to oranges and I'm not knocking the 853, I am just in "shock and awe", even the Miltie pump guns that I owned as a kid don't compare.

Welcome to the GTA. You will really feel a difference with the new trigger. It'll make you think you are shooting a different gun!
