Title: Nova Vista Bullpup!
Post by: pat585 on August 26, 2021, 04:25:01 PM
Just saw this on the Nova Vista Web site. Look's like they have a  bull pup now? It won't replace my gen 1 wildcat but i'm sure the price will be reasonable for entry levelhttps://www.nova-vista.co/displayproduct.html?id=4211373186651456

I just don't see the point in the style of bullpup where all they have done was change the stock and add a rod/bar to extend the trigger forward , making for a contortionist-like reaching back by your ear to cock it movement. Offhand shooting would seem very uncomfortable to me. On a bench there is no advantage to it. Put that side lever and magazine in front of my hand where I can get to them rapidly without fiddling behind me...the side lever at the very least

Like this, where you can keep the target in sight while you cock the gun

The whole point of a bullpup is to keep the barrel long for power, but make the overall package shorter. I have no clue as to why someone would purchase a bullpup if the only purpose was bench shooting. Makes ZERO sense unless your shooting quarters is so small that a full size rifle will not fit.
As to why they don't all move the cocking lever forward? Cost. The pic you reference is still approx $599. I woud guess the Nova Vista will be in the $399 range. For the budget shooter, which it appears the Nova Vista guns target, $200 (probably 1/2 the cost of the gun) is a pretty good chunk of change just to get forward cocking. And not sure how any true bullpup would put the mag forward.

Nova Vista made a wood stocked bullpup, based on Liberty action, but was not imported into USA.  I'm not seeing any major improvements in this Avenger based one, that would drive a big demand over other BP's already here.

What got me was the name- BEHEMOTH! When i first saw that i figured NV was getting into the big bore game? I also see they now have a hand pump &a 12v/110v compressor. Seems like everyone has a compressor on there resume now.

Waitaminute - so now there is a bullpup version of my favorite $300 PCP? I'll take it! Where do I sign up?

Hey ah'm DANG serious, does anyone know where I can inquire about this???

Also there is a camo stocked rifle version but with a Hi/Lo knob, so what is that, a transfer port restrictor or something?

The camo stocked one appears to be a Liberty.  They have the high/low transfer port.  Never used the "low", myself.  ;)

I haven't seen anyplace selling NV guns that will ship to USA, outside the importers.

I understand why bullpups are built with the receiver at the rear to save length vs a traditional stock. It is just pointless to put the cocking handle practically behind your head if you actually plan on shooting more than one shot while keeping your eyes on the target.

Yes it shaves 9 1/2 inches off the length of the standard Avenger. That's pretty much all they have done - grab an Avenger and slide the stock forward 9 1/2 inches while leaving the cocking lever where it was. In doing so it makes cocking and reloading a clumsy affair. Personally I'd prefer to have a gun ergonomically comfortable to actually shoot with eyes forward rather than something a few inches shorter that I can fit under a truck seat.

Seems more to me like something cheap, built cheap, made to look "cool" for people who wish they had a "good" bullpup, just so they can say they "have" one. Not that there is anything wrong with that. There will always be entry level users who don't know any better and people who don't have the funds for something better

Charlie- Like john said, the camo gun is a liberty. That gun has been on their site for a couple of years. I don't know why the importers never brought any in? As far as seeing any Behemoths around here i guess only air venturi knows. I have 2 liberty's & 2 avengers & one thing you have give them is they make some good barrels.

This is one of the reasons I never got a Taipan regardless how solid and accurate they were. As well as their cost.

But for $300 (up to $550 maybe?) for a proven (to me) platform except as a bullpup? No brainer!

I just personally happen to like the bp form factor so if it shoots the same, then I would sell my Avenger rifle.

That's muh story and I'm stickin' to it. 8)

And it's not like I can only buy a "cheep" bullpup to say I have one, my avatar gun cost about six times more, same as a few of my other airguns, but I do like my Avenger and the way it shoots especially for what it costs, so the bp would be, again, a no-brainer.

Having put up with a cumbersome Gauntlet and Avenger, I think these would sell well. Especially to those who have to travel from home to shoot. The cases needed to hold these guns are just has much of a pain has the length of the guns are out shooting. Yes, if you shoot from the bench, at home, the length helps; everywhere else they are problematic. 'If you can't be handsome, be handy,' seems to apply to bullpups too.
