Well, after holding out for a while I finally broke down and ordered a DAR in 0.177 cal today. For $269.95 delivered I had to do it. Hopefully it will be a nice backyard plinker.

No taxes or shipping?
-
Will be waiting your thoughts on your new shooter
-
My .177 is a laser with these NSA slugs, https://nielsenspecialtyammo.com/products/12-5-gr-hp-fb-178-cal?variant=35882382983325 , and they are about the same price as a quality pellet. Bumer is they are sold out, probably at retailers that carry them by now too, but they should be up and running again soon after their move. 13.4 gr. JSB is my 2nd choice.

No taxes or shipping?
Nope, the price is total cost delivered.

No working phone number on their WEBSITE in this day and age and no response to an email about said phone number quickly took them completely off my radar. Hope it all works out on your gun though.

I really enjoyed my DAR during the short time I had it. I would still have it if a great deal didn't come along for a trade. It's new owner hand carried it out west where it got some sweet massaging by parts of the development team. I understand it's even much better than what it was.

Here is a place to try out the sampler packs for different weights,

From using mine, IMHO I would shoot the heavier weights of ammo.
This rifle has the horsepower to deliver them at the upper end etc....... ;)

I look forward to your impressions after you receive it.
DAR looks like one heck of a bargain PCP.
-
How does the DAR compare to the Nova Liberty or Air Venturi Avenger?
-
Have had several good posts on the DAR…not as many .177 posts.… your take, walking step by step on what you find new out the box would be appreciated by folks still sitting on the fence.
If you have other PCP's, hard part is remembering the things you had to go though to get them to where they are now.....kind of unfair to compare-out-the box to one that's had it's little quirks cured.
-
If I were going to get another I think I would lean more towards the .22.

Here is lots of reading and some good info for the Dar's... ;)

Have been (reasonably) call out for being too philosophical.
Get one PCP….like it….when you get another PCP (and you will) do you get “more of the same”...or do you get “something different”?
Start with a .177 at moderate energy (like that DAR)…..do you next go to a .25 and really high energy?
Start with a high energy .22/.25….do you get another like it, or do you go with something less (.177) or something more (big bore).
Considering that I do NOT expect it to be your last PCP...
You either end up with several that do the same job, or several that do different jobs.
(It’s the “tool box” idea….a box full of hammers….a box full of screw drivers….or a tool box with hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, pin punches, etc.)

I was just reading through the linked thread on the DAR, been awhile LOL, seems like who ever was in charge of QC before shipping them is not at the helm anymore and they have worked out the issues that developed around 12/ 10 2020
I have kept the gun as was sent to me from DAR as it does what I want very well, here is my factory tune, and still holds air with none of the issues that have been reported, shortly after I got mine.
One of my post from the Main DAR thread...
OK cleaned & polished the barrel, and gave it a coating of paste wax. Took some 10 fouling shots and the darn thing started grouping like a laser. JSB 13.xx pellets were doing 855 - 870 FPS, the NSA 12.5 slugs were a consistent 858 - 860 FPS 52 shots with 5 FPS extreme spread and laser accurate to top things off. I get 4 - 12 shot mags on the reg.
From what I can tell it drops off the reg 1250 bar, I get a 12 FPS drop when it goes off reg, so IMO not a bad reg setting for my use.
And it has only become more accurate with use, NSA slugs are all I use in it now.

Hi guys, I'm new to PCP rifles and looking into Xisico 705's and the DAR's. I haven't decided on a caliber yet, for my first one, but I see several of you have both. My question is do you have a brand preference and what caliber did you choose and why?
TIA
Jerry

I'm indecisive, so have multiple calibers/brands, but for a first gun I would go with .22 as to cover most bases if pesting or target work.
DAR wins out for the total nice gun look feel and performance.
-
Thanks James, Good idea. Both. LOL, or maybe just get a .25 to start then a .22.
-
The Xisico 705 is just so ugly.
I don’t care if it performs well ;D
-
When you shoot the rifle...what do you see?
A cross hair hanging onto the target.....have no clue how ugly or pretty the rifle you are holding.....the target you are shooting certainly has no idea.....so it's just the people watching you shoot.
-
You may be right, but I don’t want to own an ugly gun ;D
-
Philosophical differences.
Never (car analogy) got a street round past the "gray primer" stage....all I wanted to do was go fast safely.
Didn't care (another car anology) if it started life as a pretty "hemi" Baracuda or an ugly station wagon.
Still don't care....what it does beats the *(&^ out of how it looks.
