So Im about to let my dog out the door. And stop, I look out the door and theres 2 pigeons, and a squirell maybe 30 feet away. I would run and go get gun X but I sold everything to get a pcp and dont have a pcp yet so poop. But anyways I watch the pigeons mosy on down the woodline and thought how easy it would be to pick them off but see no need even if I did have a pcp now. But I watch the squirell come all the way up to my porch jump on the table outside and try and climp up to a outside ceiling lamp >:( >:(. I wanted to go rambo on this squirells butt :D. But I cant, so I let the dog out and he scared the squirell half to death but *(&^ be back tommorow. Got me thinking on are there any guns out there that I could nab the squirell and then get the pigeons without spooking anything. Now I know theres other varialbes like the birds friend going WTH??? Bill??? Bill you cool man? but just on gun noise alone.

Disco with TKO break
-
same as last post or mrod my mrod is quiter than my disco.
joe

My Marauder, without a doubt. The pellet impact downrange is at least three times as loud as the actual report.
Andrew
-
QB79 with a muzzle brake on it running off an HPA bottle. All you hear is the hammer hitting the valve and the thwack when the pellet finds the target.
-
I would have to say the M-rod. I was shooting right next to one yesterday and noise wise it put my Monsoon to shame. Though, Mona the Monsoon did hit with more authoritaa than the M-rod.
-
I used to think my Mrods were quiet, but since I got my FX Royale the game has changed. That rifle is really quiet.
Keith.
-
People at the SC Fun Shoot at Gene's said my FX Independence was pretty quiet.
Brett
-
I agree with Brett. His Indy was the quietest gun I've shot. They Mrod is very quiet as well. I used to have a rainstorm and that was quieter than my disco with a tko. Now I'd say my BSA SuperTEN and Prod with the shroud extension are about equally quiet
-
My former Mrod that was depinged was super quiet.. but my 1322 with the 21" shroud on it is the most quiet rifle I have ever owned.. no report. Just the impact.
-
Remington NPSS .22 cal.Accurate as heck as well.May not be a Powerful as the XL1100 was,but I can hit what I'm shooting at every time. Got to Love Crosman's made in the Good Ole USA!
-
Would have to go with the Independence, and the depinged Mrod close second...
-
Besides the ones that are broken?
OK...for indoor target shooting without disturbing wife's TV shows.

Don't feel like you have to kill everything you see.

prod tuned to shoot h+n 14.66 at 760 fps
mrod same pellet 870 both at 2800 fill
-
Quietest I own is FX T12 whisper. Pretty darn quiet.
-
I personally LOVE my Stoeger X20 S in .22. I frequently shoot pigeons from about 20 yards and its buddies just watch him fall dead. They see no threat from my Stoeger because shes so quiet!
Other options are a Disco with a TKO, a Marauder, and as a last resort a Gamo Whisperer ( tuned preferably) because stock Whisperers are not quiet...
Just my two cents.. ;)

my m rod
-
Airwolf mct from what i own, followed by the edgun, then royal fx

!!
I don't hunt. I would pest control, but whatever pests we have here my cat takes care of. However, if I did, my quietest guns are probably not the best to go for, as much of the time the quiet goes along with lower power. That is, one of my target guns would be about as quiet as it gets, and the accuracy may counter the lack of power some, but I've only used guns in that range as fly swatters (e.g., on a poop safari).
All that said, 'quietest' would have to go to my Anschutz 2002 Mini single-stroke-pneumatic. Actually it is really quiet right now, but I am going to brake it. There is about 7 inches of open space between the end of the barrel and the "shroud" which I am going to test some baffling in. It might pretty much get down to hearing the click of the trigger pull.

AR2078 (QB78) with a 6.5" LDC, you can hear the hammer hit, a slight "phfft" from the muzzle/LDC and a whack at the steel knock down target. I never realized how loud my Benji 397 was until I LDC'd the AR2078. Now I have a benchmark for all my other guns.
-
SAADE,
I was going to mention my TF79, which I believe is the same as the AR2078/QB78.
This resource in the GTA library is interesting:

Richard: Spring gun ratings only? Or did I miss a page in that link?
-
I think those are just springers, but I do think it is an interesting side-by-side test. I have two SSPs which I think are the quietest I have... Might be interesting to compile some numbers on gun types to supplement that.

Disco/ TKO does it over and over. I can pop a bird and the rest just hang out ---- except crows -----
-
Next, most quiet from my gun locker is my 2240 with TKO LDC, followed by HW97 with home-brew LDC (still, too loud).
-
If you are looking for purchase an extremely quiet gun, your best chances are with a "medium" powered gun wearing a good LDC/Moderator.
I have 4 shrouded/moderated guns.
The most quiet one I have is the RWS Hammerli 850 .22 with 7.5" TKO. TKO does not make any smaller ones for the 850, I don't believe.. This 850 is stock except for the heavier (hammer) spring for added velocity. It averages 665fps and it is a great squirrel, rabbit and Starling gun, or crow up inside 25yds. It has the same power as a Remington NPSS or Diana 34.
This 850 with the 7.5" TKO at max. power, sounds like when your gun is very low on CO2 and it's like psst..
-
I'd have to say my Rapids are the quietest gun I've heard shoot! :P

QB79 with a muzzle brake on it running off an HPA bottle. All you hear is the hammer hitting the valve and the thwack when the pellet finds the target.
+1 on this. My 79 with the same setup is below mouse fart level.
-
Hadn't thought about it. Both my shooters will be back fro the shop tomorrow. I will compare.
-
Marauder .22 cal hands down.
-
My throwing knife is about as quiet as it gets until it makes that big kaa-LANG when it bounces instead of sticking. :P
(Sorry guys, couldn't stop myself.)
-
My Marauder is the quietest gun I own. All I hear is the hammer spring, until the pellet hits its mark. I see no point in depinging it. That would just displace a little air capacity and the ping is no problem at all.
Richard
-
My Air Arms S200 with a TKO ldc all you hear is the ping and when it hits, follow by my Talon SS with shroud.
-
Yes, it is very important to understand that most of the time the "ping" when the hammer hits the valve is louder than the report, on a PCP with a shroud, LDC or muzzle brake. The more powerful the gun, the louder the "ping" will be. And almost always, the impact on the target is louder than the ping and muzzle report, unless you are shooting at enough duct seal with no backstop, or some other "quiet" target. When I shoot my Condor .25's the impact on wood sounds like it echoes throughout the neighborhood :( :D

Hope I'm not getting to far off track, but I have drawn targets on paper towels and stuck them onto the end of a hay bale so I was shooting longways into the bale. That was pretty quiet. Need to back the hay bale up with some old blankets or pieces of carpet for safety, though.
-
quietest gun I have heard is my bro's AZ tuned and shrouded Rapid in 22.........That thing is all bidness and no noise
-
mrod is quietest i own. quietest i've heard is fx indy with disco tko close second then my mrod. ;D

-
I appreciate the replies everyone, thanks alot, Also mention of Tko and ldc are legal but spefic talk is not so if you want to go into more detail just pm me.
Lot of quiet guns...for those of you with the qbs, can those can be converted to idk 25cal, hpa bottle new stock nice trigger etc....basically what can be done with qb guns? Im one that really likes custom guns
-
QB 78...converted .25 by way of an LW barrel...converted to a tanker...converted to HPA. Running on low output pressure (850psi regulator) but it will get 50 shots per fill, 32 foot pounds per shot (30.5gr. @ 684fps). Could bring it up to over 40 foot pounds per shot with a higher output HPA tank (1200psi out put has worked well for over 40 foot pounds per shot...but mnore like 35 shots per fill)
