Title: Wester Auto Revelation GC3376
Post by: amidemon on September 29, 2011, 06:09:19 PM
AKA Crosman 760

Does anyone know where I can get some info. Such as serial numbers to date of manufacture?
I have one in pretty nice condition and would like to know more about it.

Thanks

Try Crosman by email or phone. Western Auto is no more (bought by Sears in the 80's and allowed to die by the 90's)

Your gun is likely a mid 60's or 70's (latest) as WA relied on local biz for sales and Walmart was soon to end that run of luck.

Sounds like you are "value searching"? The basic answer is, not very much, at all.

Not "Value Searching", I'm just curious, mostly about when it was made.
To me its only worth the $40 I gave for it. (I think that's what I gave if I remember correctly)
I had an older 760 when I was young that I really enjoyed. I started looking around for another
one a little over a year ago because the newer 760's are terrible in  my opinion. I ran across
this one and bought it. Its a great little shooter and I was just curious.

I picked up an old Revelation at an auction for $5 about 8 years ago.  It's pretty accurate at 10 yards...but then she opens up a bit.  I plan to refinish the stock...too bag it's missing the medallion.  I've been curious about mine too. Looked on the Crosman site but found no mention of the Revelation.  Hope someone out there has an idea where we can look!

Date of manufacture for a Crosman is the first three digits of the serial number (if it isn't so old it doesn't have a serial number). The first number (or letter) is the month. 1 -9 is January - September, letters are O, N, or D for the last three months of the year. Next two digits are the year. So a serial beginning with O79 would have been from October of 1979.

Thanks Andy, but that doesn't seem to fit the serial number. The first three digits on mine are: 058.
I am almost positive it's a zero and not the letter "o", and Crosman shows the 760 didn't start until
1966. I guess the must have used a different serial numbering system for the Western Auto Revelations.
Oh well, perhaps I'll give Crosman a call. More likely, I'll just have fun with it.
