Title: CP1-M grip rework
Post by: WhatUPSbox? on June 12, 2021, 05:07:48 PM
The CP1-m comes with a grip that's essentially a rounded 2x4. Finally got around to reshaping it to fit. Since it is also the frame, I was always a little hesitant since do-overs are not that easy.
I had a piece of oak board remnant for the shelf. I figured that if I keep it light, the grain mismatch won't be too bad.

I'm happy with the result.

Didn't see that thread before, real nice work Stan! This is about what I want to do on mine, thanks for posting the nice pics. Love the thumb and finger grooves :D .

I'm sure you could apply and polish TrueOil on the shelf to a very similar finish as the original grip, the grain difference would be even less noticeable.

Cheers!

Thanks, it just has tung oil on it now. I'm starting to think about some stipling to give it a little more texture. Definitely easier to grip than the original.
