In the past I had issues with the screws of my BKL one piece scope mount strip when over torquing trying to get the things to stay put on my HW receiver. Well......I over torqued a base screw in this UTG adapter and stripped "base screw hole threads" so I decided to do a more permanent fix that would still fit the adapter.......
My solution? Replace the aluminum threads with home rolled steel threaded inserts.
1. Drill out the 4mm threads with a 4mm drill and the 5mm threads with a 5mm drill bit...........

2. Turn a scrap steel rod so it's a bit larger than 5mm and turn down rod end for a light press fit in the 5mm adapter drilled holes ........

3. Center drill the rod and then drill a "#30 drill bit hole" in the rod and tap for a M4-0.7 screw.......

4. Part off the end of the rod leaving a short flange as a stop.........

5. Blacken the threaded inserts by coating with oil and heating with a propane torch...........

6. Press the inserts into the 5mm holes with red thread locker..........

7. Tighten M4-0.7 x 22mm cap screws into the tapped inserts through the 4mm drilled holes opposite the inserts.........

MY UTG adapter "base clamp screws" now have steel threads to engage so they won't strip out. ;D

Looks mighty professional; a good fix! :D

I like it. I always overtighten everything.
