Title: Crosman 1377/1322 rear cocker mod
Post by: Tack Driver 10 on May 26, 2021, 02:58:11 PM
In a recent foray on EBay I picked up some rear cocker assemblies.
I also have a few guns with the rear cocker, aka pinball cocking mechanism.
I really like those old school guns just because they're different.
They have one of the worst trigger ever. heavy, rough and gritty.

Replaced the heavy hammer spring with a lighter one and performed the regular trigger improvements.
Light trigger spring, polish trigger contact points etc.
Cut shims to take out the side play in the trigger blade and sear.
Replaced the stock trigger blade in the Disco tube gun with an adjustable 1700 trigger blade.

The Disco gun now fires at 12 oz and the 1322 has a 1 lb 4 oz trigger.

It is fun to mod these babies.  What is the reason for the bolt sticking out of the cocker at the very last picture?

I I love the term "Pinball cocker," your post is the first I've heard that!  Excellent!  Something I added that I like are o-rings to the two grooves cut into the cocking knob, to provide extra grip.  The o-rings are fatter than the grooves and fit tightly around the diameter, so they stay put.

I enjoy popping water balloons at long distances with any air gun, but especially so with a 1377, where you have to lob it in.  Have fun!

The cap is peened to the center rod so it got drilled to open the cocker.
Replaced the rod with a 10-32 SS hex bolt and tapped the cap.
The bolt will get trimmed and get an acorn nut to finish it off.

The o-rings used were 90 duro 018 poly rings from the o-ring store.

It would be nice to have rear cocking action also moving the pellet probe to load the pellet, rather than the current two step process of rear cocker for cocking the gun and cycling the bolt to load the pellet.
Surely someone must have given this a go, somewhere.

Put a 22 cal 18" barrel on the 1322 gun, .157" port.
With 14.3 CPHPs got 600 FPS with 10 pumps, full dump.
Same as before the mod.

Curious to see the performance at various PCP pressure levels.
Took the modded pinball cocker and installed it on the 13xx 90 gram unregulated PCP.
Same 22 cal 18" barrel, . 157" port
Started around 1450 psi on the gauge down to 800 psi.

1400 psi, 14.3 CPHP, 854 FPS.....23.15 FPE
1400 psi, 18.5 JSB,   766 FPS.....24.12 FPE
1400 psi, 25.4 JSB,   646 FPS.....23.53 FPE

1200 psi, 14.3 CPHP, 808 FPS.....20.73 FPE
1000 psi, 14.3 CPHP, 760 FPS.....18.34 FPE
0850 psi, 14.3 CPHP, 725 FPS.....16.70FPE
0800 psi, 14.3 CPHP, 690 FPS.....15.11 FPE

With a regulated 9 CI bottle at 850 psi, should get around 100 shots at 725 FPS.

Thanks, it's great to tinker around with these lego guns.
Once you put a bottle on these guns they are a lot more fun to shoot.

I've tinkered alot but a bottle is one thing I have yet to do.
Matter of fact, I've never experienced a bottled gun of any type.

Insane? How about a 22 cal 760 that does over 1000 FPS.
With heavy pellets made 37 FPE.
