Title: Anyone know the factory hammer spring setting on Hatsan Flash/Flashpup .22?
Post by: Tommyzgunz on May 26, 2021, 05:38:53 AM
Hey guys. While fiddling with the Flashpup in .22. I'm thinking both the Flash and Flashpup had the same factory settings but maybe not . I lost my original info as to how many turns Cw or CCW the  hammer spring was turned in from the factory. I want that info as a starting point to start practicing my tuning from factory tune  to a more efficient tune. Thanks

The three flash rifles that I have were tuned a bit differently from the factory.
Because of that I tend to always just shoot any gun I have over the chrono to verify what the gun is doing. I also found it much easier to leave the stock off while shooting so adjusting is easier and faster. Good luck

My Hatsan Flash 22 was cranked so tight it could hardly work. I had to disassemble to get the metal bits out. I didn't note the turns either. When I assembled the action I just set it kind of light, a guess really. It has been fantastic at 30 FPE.
My take is that the factory settings are not worth the worry.

From the six I’ve handle they’re all different. You may just want to get back to the earliest chrono data you have.

I read somewhere that it's supposed to be:

All the way in (clockwise) then four turns back out.

That supposedly give the highest power without wasting any air,  in a stock rifle.  My pup is slightly ported, ad 3.5 turns works great.
--------------------------------

If you have a chrono, the way to find optimum power is to keep backing it off until you pass that max fpe mark, then go back maybe 1/4 turn.
Any more tension than that, and you are just wasting air.
Of course, you can then dial it down is desired.

####    Oh, and if adjusting the gun out of the stock, be REALLY careful, as the gun can easily fire even if the safety is on.     :P   ::)   :P

Thanks Allen. Ive been adjusting it with it partially propped uplike brothers in air showed on his tuning. Great idea because it isnt really completely out and you could still.adjust.

I truly don't recall. I intended to use the light tension as a starting point, but it shot so well I left it there.
I know that I was using JSB pellets.

Try H&n Barracudas in 5.51. I’m tuned to  870fps using adjustments. Most accurate pellet for mine. Cleaned barrel with around 10-20 shots to season barrel.

My Flash has a total of 16 turns stop to stop, the last 2.5 have 0 tension on the wrench, from the factory it was 13 turns in. Mines currently set at 12 turns in, I'll be throwing a bit more at it I think.

Use a chronograph, adjust from there, my hatsan's were set all different, Flashpup was set at 900 fps, Flash was set 800 fps, old bullboss .22 was set to 1000 fps and Bullboss .25 was set to 650 fps, I dialed them to what I wanted for each, best to do a Re-Crown on them, it makes them Laser's...... ;D
