Got my SAM a few days ago and found out it doesn’t hold air. Leaks from 3k PSI to a little less than 2k PSI overnight.
Looking for some good suggestions on how/what to test. From what I’ve found so far, a balloon over the fill nipple is a start. And the pressure gauge is a likely spot to test too, but not sure how to test it.
Thanks.

If it is new I would explore an exchange with vendor first.

Soapy water works over areas. I would just send it in back to vender

First, who did you buy it from? If it's AGD or Pyramyd, just chat with them and do an exchange. They will make it right. If it's someone else, see what they'll do. If they don't want to help, then contact Crosman.
I've had several folks purchase stuff from other places that should honor returns, but because it's got a disliked three-letter word in it (gun), they get weird about it. So just deal with Crosman directly. They will help you out.
Please, whatever you do, don't start taking it apart until you get someone from Crosman customer service on the phone. All you need to do is slip a wrench or gouge a screw and Crosman won't cover it cause they'll say you took it apart.

Thanks everyone. Yes, the vendor is exchanging it.
I’m still up for any good and preferably simple leak detection hints since I have a leaking Fortitude G2 as well. It is a year old so still under warranty. Crosman asked if I can check the fill nipple and gauge; if it those, they’ll send parts. If not, I’ll have to ship it in for repairs.

Get some gas line leak detector solution from local hardware store, it will not promote rust, apply to suspect areas watch for bubbles.
Both the gauge and the fill niple may seal if it is a thread leak, by just a little tightening with the gun degassed, firm hand tight snug should be enough, if the parts are not at fault.

I've used CRC leak detector for a while, good stuff. Just barely push the nozzle and get a layer of the foam resting where you need. No residue after kind of smells like windex

Same thing happened to me last month. I got my Benjimin Marauder SAM from AGD and only shot 100 pellets through it when I noticed it would not hold air over night. I sent it back and they replaced it. Now my new gun has a slower leak. It very disappointing. This is my first PCP and I love how this gun shoots but I am wondering if I should have saved my money and purchased something else instead.

Something else is just as much of a &^^& shoot. Most of these leaks are really minor matters and they can come up with any gun. At least with Crosman the customer service is right, and right here in the USA as well.

Have you tried a few drops of silicone chamber oil in the fill nipple before pumping up?

Thanks for the tips on the leak detector and tightening! Will get a chance to try this weekend.

My bet is that the SAM has a leaking regulator. If you fill a regulated gun to 3000 and it leaks down to about 2000 and never goes lower it is the regulator. You can check this by pulling the action out of the stock, filling the pressure tube to 3000psi, find the small hole in the pressure tube just on trigger side of the gauge, add some bubbles and watch for leaks.
If it is leaking from here sending it back is best as you would need to rebuild the regulator to fix it.

Craps is a dice game. A game of chance. A "&^^& shoot" is like a "toss up". It has nothing to do with excrement. It does not warrent censorship.

Thanks for chiming in, John!

Okay, let's try it this way.

Thanks, John! Turns out it leaks pretty much all the way down if left alone for a couple days. Sent it in for replacement today.
Now my Fortitude G2, it leaks down from 3k to 1k and seems to hold steady there.
