A gift of some 18,000 mistakenly purchased .177 CPHP's ended up in my shop shelf last night and now I feel the need to share them with the local Starling population. I would get another DAR but they are still out of stock and I would like a semi auto to play with.
What are your suggestions? Where do you shop for them (good customer service)?
Thanks for helping me out ;D

Thanks for the link Mike but that's a LOT of lettuce! 😳
How about I set a budget at $600?

Not too many options with a .177 semi auto. Either they’re really cheap, like a Crosman 1077. Or really expensive like that steyr mentioned above. Too bad AEA doesn’t make a .177, it would be around your price range considering what their other semi autos sell for.
There is one other option:

This one is made by the regulator company Altaros. Haven’t heard any members buying it so its reliability isn’t known. But considering who makes it, I’d say it’s a safe bet that it’s built well. Only thing is it’s about $400 over your budget

Sig MCX air gun. Not my cup of tea but I know two folks that have them and both like them and report no problems at all. Long pull DA trigger but very smooth and usable. Mag fed but the mags are internally belt fed. I tried one and can say that it ran great, hits came easily, was totally reliable, had a heavy-quality feel, and they are made in Japan. I think they are sold for training. The controls are situated and operate just like an AR. The only issue is that one brand of C02 cartridge had a different profile from the others and did not fit.
Have a good one, Mike
PS, I was just informed that rumor has it that a PCP version is now available.
PS, the can is fake, not back yard friendly.

Hi David
AEA makes a 22 cal.semi auto for $659 + shipping.
You would have to pre order from this source (PAS) but it may be available from another vendor.
I don't know anything about AEA but guys on the Big Bore Gate have a few AEA guns.
You could check with them to see how they like AEA rifles in general and what the customer service is like.
At any rate it is close to your price range. It's something to look at and compare to any others that you are currently looking at.
Best Wishes - Tom

Personally, I'd get a 1077 with a 88 gram bottle adapter, or clean up and make a working Benjamin Wildfire PCP. Both are .177 semiauto and you can eat through rounds rapidly.
I'm still tempted to get a Wildfire even if it's broke and fix it. I already know how to fix them, because I had two that I fixed for folks. They still work too.
I think getting a 1077 and finding a 88 gram bottle adapter or do a Co2 guppy tank is your best option, and it won't crack the piggy bank.

There are not many oprions, if there were they are not to be found , maybe a wtb for an Umarex ruger 1022 .177 repeater ??? Not selling mine, but be fun way to burn up some odd pellets and cheap to feed after.

How about instead of a rifle, a pistol?
Get a Co2 Crosman Vigilante or something, a bunch of cheap mags, and a box of Co2 from RedRock. I can guarantee you'll eat those pellets up.
I just shot mine today tearing up clay pigeons.

I'm leaning toward PCP after reading about CO2. Some real deterrents in cooler weather. :-\

Used Crosman Nightstalker with HPA bottle? Umarex cx4 if you want co2. Steyr Pro X Scout if you want something reliable https://www.steyr-sport.com/en/steyr-pro-x-scout (https://www.steyr-sport.com/en/steyr-pro-x-scout)

Minnesota...Co2 might be a problem for outside for a good part of a year, and it would take a good bit of co2 to shoot up 18,000 pellets. No bulk fill semi-autos I’m aware of, so are buying 12gr. or 88gr. If you use CO2.
Are some of them that can be converted to HPA tanks…..still a whole lot of shooting for rifles that are a bit prone to breakages in normal use.
No idea of they’d shoot well in that particular barrel or not.
Not being interested in buying semi-auto airguns, haven’t really noticed choices in .177 PCP’s until this post….so I learned something.

In the $400 range you have the Hatsan Sortie. It's available in .177. I don't have any personal experience with it. The Tact version has a removable stock. I've been looking at getting something semi-auto, but I'm looking for .22 and settled on the AEA HP.

Post a WTB for an Evanix Air Speed .177, as long as you are not looking for laser accuracy they are a decent semi-auto rifle. The .177 and .22 are known to throw flyers until the bolt assembly is upgraded to a second spring behind the cocking lever. I'm sure that at least one member here has one sitting in a closet or safe unused

There have been some reliability issues with those Hatsan semi-autos. It uses spent air which contains lead particles and they tend to cause jams in the long run.

Agreed, I will do a lot of shooting in the winter so CO2 is out for now. :-[
