Title: Crosman 2100 Classic stock/forearm
Post by: xunil76 on May 22, 2021, 11:18:27 AM
so i just got through buying a new Crosman 2100 Classic because i really liked the one i had 30-ish years ago, but when it arrived, i was greeted with the horrible looking thing in Pic #1

the photos shown on the Amazon page where i ordered it showed the old, classic style with the fake woodgrain and the crosshatch knurling in it, which is the one i wanted (Pic #2)...is it just hit or miss with which style you get these days, or have they completely discontinued the woodgrain version?

and those stocks/forearms look the same on multiple other models of Crosman air guns (Legacy 1000, 766, 2200, and maybe others)....are these interchangeable?

Well, yes, and no.
The design is the same across all those guns, as well as the old Model 1, which had wood.
2100W and 2200W wood furniture would also fit and make nice upgrades, but scarce and
additional mounting hardware required (same w/Model !)
However.....................
The holes in the clevis "ears" can vary just a touch in size, as I have seen variations in the diameter of
the posts in the receiver over which the ears must slide. Not too much clearance, but not tight, either.
Attempts to enlarge the holes must be done gradually and by hand with a file...they don't take kindly to drill bits.

Forearms should all interchange.

so where would one go to find that specific style of forearm/stock?  can that style be ordered directly from Crosman?  or do you have to just find a donor gun and/or get lucky on ebay listings?

I bel1eve all Crosman will supply is what you have on your new 2100.
they are not good about supporting older guns.

Donor guns are iffy at best, as the stocks are often broken in those........
I have recently received a 2100 and 2200 which the sellers stated that the stocks were "a little loose" in response
to my asking; one is definitely trashed internally, and I suspect the other is as well.

What exactly are you looking for?
I am in the process of making wood stocks and forearms to swap onto rifles I have, and may have a good original set available.
They came in many different color shades and styles...........

You may also try JG Airguns or Mike Baker.

i'm not looking for real wood stock/forearm...i'm looking for the fake woodgrain version with the crosshatched knurling design in it, as shown in the 2nd photo in my original post titled "Crosman 2100B Classic (woodgrain style).png"

well, i was able to find the forearm on JG Airguns and just placed that order, along with a couple other small components that i intend to modify on the gun, so i'll have a spare in case i screw it up...now i just need to keep an eye out for the stock so i can convert it all over

Sadly this seems to be the case, and I'm with you.
I can't stand that new thing either, and am glad I got mine just in time.

I am so frustrated with Crosman these days, they know how to make a good platform but every single thing they offer these days is ugly as sin.
They can't make a good looking wood stock anymore, they're changing all the molds that used to imitate a good looking wood stock, and are doing away with the few wood stocks they made however horrible they looked in recent years.

They create a promising new rifle that's not out yet, but again it's ugly as sin.

They just don't seem to have their heads on straight.
Crosman needs to stop making all their Classics look like giant turds and thinking it's okay to keep calling them " American Classic ".

This is why I am working on learning how to make wood stocks for the Crosman pumpers.
they make fine, solid rifles when paired with wood.
Problem is that the furniture is gonna cost more than the rifle.......
