If you had to pick, and I do, which would you pick? AA S510 XS or Weihrauch Hw 100 both are .22 cal and within $100 of each other. (at least here in Canada they are) If you have one of these and can give your advice or opinion please do.
awaiting your info.

I have an AA510 .22 in carbine. Love it. No HW100 to compare it to. Also have a Daystate Regal and i think the AA has a slight edge over that in terms of quality although it is also a very fine gun. I get ~30 shot with 18.13 gr before falling off reg on the AA. Also am a fan of the side lever vs bolt.
-
I would go with the AA 510, just being as I have had a few and they are great guns.
Now that isn't saying that the HW100 is a bad gun. Either one you will like.
Get the one that uses the magazine that you like, as well as the stock you like.

I have the S510 in .177 and it is a definite keeper. I also had a Daystate Regal Huntsman in .25 sold the huntsman and will keep my S510 until somebody else has to decide what to do with all my rifles.

Thanks. I am leaning toward the S510 I think.

I have 2 HW100's one is the HW100 T FSB shrouded barrel and the other is the HW100BP bullpup with Moderator, both are absolutely awesome guns, laser accurate and very dependable, also very quiet, I would never sell these guns, keepers for life, I don't have any AA guns, but I hear the 510 XS ultimate sporter is an excellent gun.

Thanks so much. Hmm seems like they are BOTH very nice rifles. Hard decisions. Maybe more input from some others before I pull the trigger. What is the warranty on the HW100?
-
HW100 has a Limited Lifetime warranty, as long as you do not take the gun apart, you must have it serviced at a Weihrauch athorized service center, like AoA.

I've had both.
I now have two HW100s and no S510.
The HW100 is better in almost every way.
Trigger is much better.
It's regulated.
The magazine is foolproof and can't double load.
The HW100 is not better in these three ways:
More prone to leak, they simply have more seals.
The barrels sometimes are picky in .22
It's heavier.
At full FAC power shot count is pretty lame on both. Don't know your power restrictions if there are any.
One major issue I had with my S500, that in my opinion ruined an otherwise brilliant gun:
The POI shifted throughout the shot string, and anytime the stock screw torque changed or the action was bumped in the stock. The action is held in with a single screw, and the stock is inlet tight to the airtube, which is tied to the barrel with a barrel band. Terrible design and caused me untold amounts of grief.
Just my findings.

I don't own either, but looked at them a few years back when my brother wanted to buy a PCP. What I remember (and should be verified about current models) is:
That the HW100's magazine was much simpler to load than most PCPs. At that time, the HW100 was regulated, but the hammer spring tension was not simply externally adjustable. This may have changed. HW100 used to have models with "conventional" stocks and fully shrouded barrel. Now, the fewer conventional stock models have a obvious silencer on the end of a slim barrel. I don't like the look. The Canadian version probably just has a slim barrel.
The AA510 are very nicely made. I liked the fact that they have a Lothar Walther barrel. Mags are slower to load than the HW100. Pressure regulation was not standard then - it is now. This air rifle has some external power adjustability. I like that the S510 is availed as a carbine with conventional looking stock and shrouded barrel. I don't know if the Canadian barrel has a shroud, or if the shroud is blind and non-functional.

Thanks for the great info. It is a tough decision as both are great rifles. The S510 is regulated now also.

Thanks for the info. I too am not a fan of thin barrels. The S510 is shrouded (but no baffling here - suppression, even on an airgun is illegal here). The HW100 I am considering has a walnut stock with thumbhole and the S510 has a more traditional stock. Both beautiful rifles so hard decision. I am looking for something that is also very accurate out to 50 m and beyond.

Beyond 50 meters the .177 even with 10.34 pellets begins to fall behind in the accuracy dept unless the shooter spends a lot of time shooting. Additionally most unregulated PCP rifles have a sweet spot in the charge cycle. For example my S510 .177 will shoot consistent for about 30 shots at 900 FPS from ~2400PSI down to ~1800PSI out to ~60 yards

Great info. The rifles I am considering are .22 cal. so hoping they will be able to reach out a bit better. Another rifle on the short list is an FX Dreamline in .25 cal with power plenum and Superior Liner with AMP regulator. Decisions, decisions.

The AA S5 (S500, single shot) was my 2nd PCP rifle:

I still have it.
Excellent bluing and good performance ;D

these are my HW100's, both are laser accurate out to 75 yards, a .20 cal T FSB and a .22 cal BP.

[/quote]I have one of the early FX Crown .25 Synthetic stock rifles it is both regulated and bottle-fed with superior accuracy and excellent shot count. Also with the shroud extended fairly quiet

David,
I would chose the HW100 and here are a few reasons . First is that they are easily tuned via the hammer spring adjuster and the regulator pressure. The parts to rebuild are very easy to get up here in Canada through a few dealers. They are built like tanks , the cylinders are removable when charged so you can keep a spare and swap them out. The triggers on these HW rifles are as good as you can get from a factory rifle with both first and second stage adjustment as well as the pull weight. Last but not least is the best magazine system seen on an air rifle, and when a loaded mag is in the gun it doesn’t stick out past the top of the action. Great if you want low scope mounts. If you haven’t seen this already , here’s the least expensive place to buy a brand new HW100 in just about every configuration. https://www.airgunforum.ca/store/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=ik3co9brl3pb07cr7k45mttal2 (https://www.airgunforum.ca/store/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=ik3co9brl3pb07cr7k45mttal2)

Yes, the more I look into the Dreamline the more I am leaning that way. I can easily change calibre so can have in .22 and .30 cal.

Hey all, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who piped in with their experiences and opinions. Much appreciated. Funny thing is though the title was for the HW100 and S510 I actually ended up going with a FX Dreamline with power plenum and 600mm barrel in .25 cal. Though I really, really liked the S510 the versatility of the Dreamline won me over. I also ordered it with a .22 cal barrel and probe kit. Again thanks for all the help. I will be picking it up tomorrow and will post more later in the week in a separate post.
