Friday morning, my new Air Venturi/Springfield armory M1A/M14 .22 underlever came in. It's a big, heavy, wood-stocked rifle @ 9.9lbs! Spring loaded non-functional bolt. Safety in the front trigger guard. Extendable underlever with 35lb cocking force. No clear finish apparent on the stained stock, so I'll do an oil finish on it with B/C Tru-Oil. Gotta clean it up and test it yet. Haven't done a video in awhile, so this will help get me back into my air guns again. Hate not being able to shoot outside.

Enjoy...
I just received my first SA m1 garand.

WOW! The M-14 was a big part of my life. Can't wait for your review. This could be my next air rifle( in .22). Have you tried the CPHP (Crosman premier hollow points)? I have a lot of them and would love to find a rifle that will shoot them well.
Thank's for posting

@ Acapulco; My dad used an M1 Garand as a Seabee in the Philippines during WWII. My older Brother trained with the M14 at Parris Island in the early 70's. They went to Vietnam with the then new M16. So these rifles have some history in my family. I just had to get it when it was on sale at aigundepot.com to honor those memories. SSG; I can't wait to review it while my wife goes to my son's house for his wife's birthday and some girl time. Then I can smoke a cigar while testing it. Like that funny guy in the gun shop videos. lol Cocked, locked & ready to rock! Gonna try the .22cal CPHP's & Gamo Rocket's first. Oh yeah!

And here's my video review of the M1A/M14 .22 underlever and the vintage Crosman AIR17 .177cal;

A closer shot of the target in the video. Larger holes are from the M14 .22 Gamo Rockets @ 14.39gr. Smaller ones from the AIR17 .177cal & H&N sniper lights @ 7.5gr...

And the target I shot the next day with H&N Baracuda Green 12.65gr. 6 shots, 2 nearly on top of each other in the bull's eye!

I just oiled the stock a third time, so I'll try the CPHP's tomorrow.

Here's the target I shot with the CPHP .22 @ 14.6gr. 6 shots at same range with the M14. 3 in the bull's eye & 3 on the lower #8 and 9 line;

DB, looks like they shot well. Thank's for posting.

Looks like it shoots pretty good.
Does anyone know if the action/power plant is based on another, or is it a one of a kind?
-
It was built for Springfield Armory by Air Venturi. Might be a good question to ask them? It is a springer, albeit an underlever. They rated it at 700FPS. That might help narrow it down?

Yesterday, I looked up where I bought to post a link on Facebook for a fellow group member. I paid 199.99 for it a few months ago. I now see it's 219.99. .177 or .22.
-
I love mine though I wish I had gotten the .177 initially. I have a February 1945 dated m1 garand and it’s pretty dang close in look and feel aside from the unfinished stock vs the patina’d walnut stock on the legit garand. An m1a without a magazine is a garand with different muzzle device essentially, so it’s a valid comparison.

I was thinking of seeing if the mag could be fitted to put pellets in or something? Besides the fold-up butt plate & sling.

Someone did have a mag custom fitted iirc. I don’t remember where. It wasn’t to store pellets though, just for show. Every time I think I want to install a mag in it to look more realistic, I think about actually bench resting a mag fed rifle and how annoying the mag is.
-
Yeah. You might have a point about the mag. Clearance issues with the table vs bag height and all...

I think xs46u.

Man, I can't do this with mine - not even close.
I have the .177 caliber, and when I started shooting I found it to shoot about 12 inches high at 30 yards. I switched over to a heavier pellet and got the point of impact to drop. Currently I'm shooting the heaviest .177 pellet I can find, and I'm still 5-6 inches high with no sight adjustment remaining.
Ya'll have any ideas on how to get my point of impact to match up with my point of aim ?

Bend barrel down? Raise front sight? Lower rear sight?
Those are generally the 3 options. How is the rear sight attached? How smashed into the comb is your cheek?

Is the sight blade metal? You could use JB Weld to build it up a little. If it is identical to an M-14 sight you could use an after market sight. Tech Sight makes an adjustable one for the M-14. www.techsight.com (http://www.techsight.com).

Might need to rebed the barrel? My Mohawk 10c (Kmart Nylon 66) was like that. Had to shim the barrel a bit.
