Title: First Time Mounting Scope on Air Rifle
Post by: Dr.J#13@AZ on May 02, 2021, 10:39:11 PM
I’ve ordered a set of Sportsmatch TO4C rings to mount a Leupold 3-9x efr on my Beeman R7.  Does 15 in. lbs. of torque on the rings and 30-35 in. lbs on the screws that secure it to the dovetail sound right.  I don’t want to over tighten them.  Thanks again, Tom

Also clean all mounting surfaces, including gun rail, scope rings, scope, etc with a degreaser or remove the oil with a solvent like lacquer thinner (test a small spot first to make sure it doesn't remove any finish).

Laquer thinner may remove the finish from the scope. Plain old rubbing alcohol is just fine.

The dovetail clamps can go down to 50 inlbs. Also install the recoil. Have it far enough down you can feel it catch on the hole rim. Slide the rear ring back until the pin stops it. Tighten the dovetail clamp and then push the pin down through top until it stops.. On a R7 you probably don't need the recoil pin but it's good practice

FWIW I use 18" on the ring caps & 30" on the ring base with blue Loctite on the threads.

Some scopes will oval at 18 inlbs &
30 isn't tight enough for the dovetail.
