Title: I've been casting up some 35 cal pellets on my last two sessions.
Post by: Wayne52 on April 26, 2021, 01:17:42 PM
I'll never forget when Knifemaker was saying when I had bought some hard lead ingots a few years back that he wished he could get the price on them like I did.  I thought about selling them but I'm glad I hung on to the 20 1lb ingots I had bought from a salvage yard very cheap.  I just cast up about 150 pellets this morning using that lead mixed with about half the same amount in pure lead for some nice pellets for the 357 AEA that'll be coming to my house soon today.  I'll also be casting up some slugs for it as soon as a slug mold that I ordered comes in the mail  8)

Good looking(huge) pellets. Hope they shoot great in your new rifle! ;)

I'm interested in how those would compare to something like an 88 grain bullet, but I'm also shooting a Bulldog. Is the AEA a choked barrel?

Those sure are shiny!

Greg from what I've gathered the AEA barrel is unchoked with 1 in 36" twist, most of the guys shooting them say the NOE pellets work great in them, I'll soon find out.

That sounds like a great pellet barrel for .35 cal.... I firmly believe about 1 turn in 100 calibers is plenty fast enough for pellets....

Bob I sighted it in the AEA Challenger this morning out at the state land, it's very accurate at 40-50 yards using these pellets.  I'm going to cast up some of these pellets with the other two pin's because a fellow member said the heavier ones are also very accurate.

I got out with mine this morning, I did two shots while I was out there one shot in a pinup target and another shot to empty the gun in a dead tree. The accuracy shooting my pellets from this gun is simply amazing in the accuracy department.  I did see one nice fat fox squirrel come out of his nest, move all around in the tree and finally took of in search of food, I didn't see one red squirrel or even a chipmunk.  It was definitely too cold for the ground hogs to be out.
