Title: $150.00 to spend on pellets
Post by: lettercarrier1 on September 24, 2011, 03:24:43 PM
I have inherited $150.00 from my Uncle, YEAH right; and thought on spending it in .22 cal pellets ::)

1. they will shoot out of a 8 land, M34, 02-90 manufactured with a Vortek kit

2. I like diversity, SOO!! from 14 to 18 grains will be fine

3. brand means NOTHING, quality is the name of the game, yesterday was yesterday; today is today

4. quality VS. quantity is a NO/NO

5. FPS is not a factor, I would rather hit the HINGES of a barn at 30 yards with 600 fps than miss the barn at 840

6. don't pick the best expensive (perfume) neither the cheapest (poison)

7. keep it to 5 brands and weight's, I don't need a ZILLION pellets

8. which ones are you using "NOW" and giving you a smile

9. NO NEGATIVE inputs of what happened in the past

10. YOU ARE GAME, want to PLAY!!!

If you had this air rifle (M34) and $150.00 to spend in pellets TODAY. Which ones would you buy??

thanks

If you eliminate the lead free/PBA pellets, and the cheap stuff like crosman and daisy, and a couple others, AND you utilize buy 3 get one free at Pyramid.  You can get almost a full collection of every pellet they sell.

I will consider your input or are you in the right track?? no pun intended

I did not propose to buy a collection of pellets just narrow down the selection of PELLETS

out of a wallet that has ONLY $150.00

HOW would you spend them in a M34, .22 cal. on only 5 brands of pellets

warren

PS: eventually we will go to 1 brand after the 1'st round

we have 5 candidates thanks to Tom 96

NOW the fun begins, out of those 5 you will not include #6. what happens next is that if you substitute one of them for your choice then you will have to be BACKED up by another member

you take 1 of the original posted by Tom and have another members to agree with you

I made this thread for FUN and in NO way questioning your intelligence

Gentlemen; LET's VOTE and see what happens at the end

well i love JSB's in 177 and 20 but hate them in 22! Just my opinion..........

im gonna throw out what i mostly shoot in .22, i dont care what gun. Meisterkolgen RWS. they work great in any gun and look as thou tiny German gnones made them on tiny lathes......buy some of these, you'll be glad you did.

JSB 14.3, 15.9, and 18 grain. Obviously the choice on which ones you get is all yours. HN field target trophies or beeman field target specials, they are the same pellets. If you hunt try some predator pellets. Maybe also try the boxed crosman premiers

If you don't already know which pellet your air rifle shoots best, consider a Straight Shooters pellet sampler:
http://www.straightshooters.com/straightshooters/sssampler.html (http://www.straightshooters.com/straightshooters/sssampler.html)

See which pellets work best for you first, then order them in units of 4 tins from Pyramid Air in volume to get one tin free for three at regular price.  Don't know if Pyramid still has free shipping on volume orders, but if so, then it is worth spending the amount needed (it used to be $140 total order, as I recall) to get free shipping on a large order of lead pellets.

Get a sleeve or 2 of JSB 15.9 grain Exact. I'll assume you've already gone through the process of elimination and have narrowed the guns favorites to 2 or 3 brands/types. IF for some reason your M34 doesn't shoot the JSB well enough, chances are you'll have another rifle that will. If worse comes to worse (and none of your rifles shoot them well), you could put the remaining JSB's on the classifieds and they'd be scooped up in no time.

The 2 pellets I've found to shoot out of most all of my RWS were CPHP's or the 16gr AA pellets! just my 2ct :P

Mine loves the H&N 5.54 and 5.55.  Not quite as accurate with the JSB's but close.

Warren,  What pellets have you used already?  Those that you don't like will help narrow down the available selections.
