Hello all,
I'm new to this forum and new to airgunning. Rick Eutsler referred me here to get some advice on putting peep sights on an RWS 34 Panther. My son is shooting air rifle for 4H, so it's open sights only. We also shoot Appleseed together so we have a couple of .22 Liberty Training Rifles with TechSights peep sights.
I'd like to put peep sights on an RWS 34 Panther. The rifle currently has no sights at all. Hoping not to break the bank.
For a rear right, the Mendoza Diopter sight for 11mm dovetail looked good and is reasonably priced ($29). If this would be appropriate for the RWS 34, what could I use for a front sight?
Or could somebody suggest an alternative rear/front sight combination?
Thanks and best regards,
David

For a front sight you probably could slip on one of the factory "fiber-optic" sights that come standard on the 34's. I personally do not like them because it is a very coarse sight. If your target is 20 yd. away and smaller than a quart-sized paint can it can be tough. Putting a better quality iron sight up front might run the bill up higher than you want to go. I was thinking about a Williams rear and trying to fit an RWS 48 front blade(Available from Airgun Warehouse and probably Umarex) But that set up would have cost around $150 with shipping. Hopefully some of the other members will chime in and give you some better alternatives.

There might be some shooters on the Dianawerk who have added peeps to their 34P's. http://www.network54.com/Forum/184474/ (http://www.network54.com/Forum/184474/) Ask there.
One question - Is there a power limitation in 4H or at your range? We have an indoor range at my Izaak Walton chapter and I believe it's only for low powered guns due to the traps can't take hammering.

Thanks for the replies so far. I've posted over on the Diana forum too (great tip) but would certainly still be interested in any help here too.
There isn't any power limitation in our 4H club, since we shoot outdoors into a dirt backstop. So it seems that the 34P with peep sights should be a winning combination.
