Ive asked this elsewhere but got no help, I have a 2260 hpa with an 18” Crosman barrel. I am thinking of fitting a Crosman .22 Marauder barrel. Not the green mountain or anything special just the stock marauder replacement barrel. Do you think it would be a better barrel than what is offered for 22xx replacements? Please and thanks in advance.

The mrod barrel is not a drop-in to a 2260. Different transfer port type and slight location difference. It also has the O-ring groove in barrel vs on the probe. If you are aware of these differences and plan to machine it, than ok.

A few vendors out there offer a "big bore" conversion that will accept the 1/2" barrel OD then machining will be needed of the barrel.

I have a lathe and I would be cutting it short to 18”, never use open sites.
I am thinking of fitting a .25 marauder barrel to my B50 but not yet.
So as long as I can expect better accuracy from the marauder barrel then I will give it a try. Thanks

Garth , I would suggest trying a Kral barrel . I’ve machined a few and just finished another one for a friend. They are from what I’ve seen very accurate and the non stainless are very easy to turn down on a lathe.
I’m wondering why you want a replacement in the first place. I thought the B50/51 barrels were good.

I was hoping I’d have a accurate B50 but I could out shoot it with my Diana break barrel which was very disappointing I’ll look up those Kral barrels and if the price is right, I didn’t know if out of the box they would be comparable to a marauder .22

I found a KRAL barrel for about 20 bucks more than the Marauder barrel would cost me it says it has a nickel finish but that shouldn’t be a problem for me on the lathe if I’m careful not to scratch it

Garth, I have a 2400KT with HiPac. It came with the 14.5" LW. I changed it for the 18" Crosman barrel. No difference in accuracy between the two. If by "better" you mean more accurate, maybe check the crown and leade on your barrel.

IF you’ve got the tooling, could fit a new barrel….just a matter of barrel diameter if you want to have the issue barrel band fit.
By about 14.5-15mm diameter, won’t want to fit onto the tube without a bit of a breech riser…..get the riser just right, and QB bands will work.
Some of the issue Crosman barrels are good, some just need a little TLC, but there were some hopeless ones. I’d not swear you’ll get better accuracy with a “name brand” barrel, but it’s likely.
When dealing with a take-off barrel that I know shoots well...will just shorten from the breech end. If I want to try a new crown or remove a choked section, shorten both ends to get a clean start.
Just not all that fond of the Crosman breech attachment to the tube, so I pay more attention to barrel bands than others do.
