So will this work on Beeman R7 or R9 with sights?

it'll only work with the R9 with sights. The R7 has a 15mm barrel and requires a different part number.

Ok. I see a 15mm moderator also at AoA.... I keep hearing that everyone should at least own a R7. It’s a classic.

Didn't you just get a Hw30 today? A R7 is the same gun mechanically with sometimes different stock.
-
I did. Also want one with iron sights.
-
Understandable. I got two for the same reasons

I have a short list of wants
97K in 25
R7 in 177
Hatsan 135 carnivore 30cal and 25cal!

97K in .22 would be nice. .25 would be too loopy for that powerplant.

I know this is an old post but is there any way to get a 16mm moderator to fit the R7?

You can’t fit the 16mm moderator on the 15mm barrel. Each moderator has very precise rails which are compatible with the rails for the open sights.
I have a 16mm moderator. It is effective, but very long. Target shooting is ok, but I would not recommend it for hunting in the field. It is also not so strong as 1/2 UNF so you can’t use it when cocking the rifle. One last point - the screws which are used for fitting the moderator can damage blueing of your rifle and can badly scratch the barrel. I put small pieces of rubber in the holes before the screws to prevent the damage. It works good as a protection and also helps to hold the moderator in place. These moderators tend to loose their place after few shots.

+1, everything is the same as my experience. I would suggest converting the grub screws to nylon tipped ones. I got mine from McMaster/Carr.
I want to stess, this moderator is very long. Very long...This moderator is very effective at reducing the sound imitated.
otherwise, find an adaptor that will have 1/2" UNF thread. I have one with the needed cutout. Works well.

I tried a 15mm Weihrauch moderator on HW30 and 50. It wasn't worth the extra weight and length. 90% of the noise you hear is mechanical and most bystanders don't hear it because their head isn't strapped to the gun.

I'll add into this, moderators do work on springers, but you need to tune the power plant, I would also agree most factory length barrels are long, you only need 10.5 to 12.25'' of barrel, then the moderator isn't so long out front, HW sells several models thru AOA that are short barreled and moderated, or you can send you barrel off and have it cut to the length you want and add your own moderator, IMO if you want a gun with a moderator buy 1 that's suited for 1 or make the mods needed to make it work correctly, Chambers also sells replacement barrels for HW's, that are short 12.2'' in length that are threaded, I have it both ways, I have several rifles that have cut barrels and several barrels I purchased thru Chambers, all of them work just fine! I have these set ups on my R1's HW95's 50's and so on, I will tell you this the smaller the power plant the quieter you can make it! all your going to hear is the piston hit home, and again that can be made softer sounding on the tune of the power plant! ;)

I had open heart by-pass surgery last winter and during the course of my recovery, I did add a 15mm Weihruauch moderator to each of my two HW50s. This was in hopes that adding a moderator would make cocking easier since I was on a strict medical schedule of how much I was allowed to lift and when.
HW 50 177, top, HW 50 20 cal, bottom.

Took me a long time in recovery before I could even manage to cock an HW50, but adding a moderator for this reason worked quite well. It made a difference, even though I only grab the moderator just forward of the front sight cut out (as far as I can reach, anyway). Just that little bit of extra reach and the larger diameter provided by the moderator made a noticeable difference in cocking effort on the HW50, though. Have had no issues with the moderator coming loose, either.
As to noise reduction on an HW 50, not much. Just tends to muffle the crack of the shot. Not surprisingly, it makes more of a difference on my 177 HW50 than the 20 call HW50.
Right now, I'm back to shooting the FWB Sport as far as what I can manage, physically. The Sport is my most powerful springer, so my recovery as far as shooting my springers is complete. Have to say, though, if there was ever a springer that could use a moderator for noise reduction, the Sport is it. It's one loud springer. Part of that Sport, mystique. :)

A call to AOA will answer all your questions concerning silencers for your air rifles. The staff is great there.

Glad you had a good experience. I did not!

Hi Joanie,
Wishing you a full and complete recovery. When all is said and done, you should feel like a new younger person!

Thanks, Yogi. Yeah, long road on the recovery thing, but feeling much better.
