Title: TX200 availability
Post by: Drm on March 11, 2021, 09:54:31 PM
So....I want but want to buy an Air Arms TX200. I ordered one (pre-ordered) in September from two different places but it seems like they're not available anywhere. If there is a light at the end of the tunnel I'm ok, I realize that COVID has a lot to do with this but I just looked on the KRALE site and they show "discontinued". Does anybody have any idea when or if they will become available?  Any insight or guidance would be appreciated,
Thanks, David

Yeah, these have been out of stock for a LOOOOOONG time.  I was hoping to pick one up awhile back and finally gave up.  Even nice used ones are very slim pickins.  I gave up and even sold all of my spare parts  :-\

You may want to consider an HW97.  They're just as nice, and seem to have a little better quality control.  There not quite as easy to disassemble though.  ARH still makes kits for these too.  Not so with the TX200.

Thanks for the replies. I might go with the HW97k but since this will be my only gun I had my hopes on the TX. I do know for sure that right after I get something else they will become available everywhere!!

David, we have all three models of AA springers as well as several 97/77K HWs. For sure, if you have your heart set on getting a TX, hang in there and keep looking. Don't be afraid of considering a 97K as a substitute, though. We actually shoot our HW under levers more.

Post by: Drm on March 13, 2021, 02:50:23 PM
Joanie,  thanks for the advise! Just out of curiosity, what makes you pick up the HW more often than the TX?
Title: Re: TX200 availability
Post by: north country gal on March 13, 2021, 06:41:27 PM
For me, the 97K is just a bit more user friendly to operate. HW under levers have a full cut out that makes it easier for me to load pellets and there's no bear-trap safety mechanism to release before you shoot. The walnut stocks on our AAs are truly things of great beauty, but the standard beech stock on the 97 or 77K is a bit trimmer and a better fit for me. None of this is a put down on the AAs, by the way. I do enjoy shooting them very much. Just a personal preference thing for me with the HW under levers. Sometimes it's the little things when it comes to which gun you grab as you head out for a range session.

Regardless, I would consider it very bad news, indeed, if the TX was discontinued. That would be a real blow to us springer fans.

DRM, if your heart is set on a 200, do not settle for a consolation prize. The gun is a thing of beauty and the firing cycle backs up the good looks. If you settle for something else first you will still end up wanting a tx.

I agree. Used is another option.
Title: Re: TX200 availability
Post by: phoebeisis on March 15, 2021, 07:39:57 AM
Yeah

Stick with the TX200.

I bouight mine-bay-over christmas-there were 3-4 or so on ebay over a 4 week period.

Mine is LH-I am right handed but left eyed-so about the same left or right hand  for me-

walnut NIB- from a guy who normally sells at air gun shows-but he was having to ebay

his inventory-COVID 19-no shows-it was $610 delivered-with tax etc-I think air depot sells for $820 delivered-$750+tax

Despite it arriving with the cocking lever "cockeyed"- I posted info pictures here -members saw the cocking  link pin  was 7 mm short of fully driven in

and it shooting  loose from the stock-several times-stud that holds front triggerguard screw wasn't tight enough-probably needs lock-tite+ a good cleaning of threads before lock tight.

I LOVE it-just looking at it!   It is SOOOOO PRETTY I can forgive it anything-

and the trigger- FIRST FEW TIMES-I would just think "shoot" and BAM-I actually dialed in more 1st stage travel and more 2nd stage weight

trigger pull  was sooo light- so short it literally startled me-more accustomed to the way Hector walked me through redialing in my 460(I had goofed it up-ignored manual) I like LOTS of

1st stage travel-and "Firmish"  second stage on the Diana 460 which I liked much more than the HW97-it just "feels better"

Yeah blueing sooo nice    walnut soooo nice-you forgive minor English QC problems-

not sure what I expected considering we owned a 1962 MG 1100 during the reign of Sir Lucas-Prince of Darkness(points never wore out-they literally just broke in half-

but the aTX200 QC stuff is minor-and it looks and shoots soooo great-HW97 just kind of dowdy looking by comparison-

yeah-looks matter-just wait-and if you like looks-pay extra $100 or so for walnut

Oh-look it over carefully when it arrives-the link pin-what a surprise-who in the world assembled that?

not sure if Covid 19 has effected their workforce-probably-and they probably have HUGE DEMAND-

Guns-all guns-even air guns-more popular since folks stuck at home

Just be patient-prices will drop-and folks will be selling impulse buys-and older folks  are switching to PCPs

GB is furiously vaccinating-so their COVID 19 problems-roughly the same numbers as USA 1600 DEATHS PER MILLION- will be over by mid summer-for adult workers

so Air Arms will be able to bring folks back-and jack up production-

The shortage is all driven by COVID 19- fewer workers-and more demand since folks at home more- By July Aug 2021-Brits will be at full production-epidemic mostly over-

the vaccines are spectacular- 95% protection-amazing-and the "new variants" no big deal-not unexpected-all viruses mutate-ALL VIRUSES-

Current vaccines still  plenty protective-and updated vaccines-capable of matching up will new variants and older-are on the way

Yeah hard to be patient-just got some good pictures of TX200's-stare at them-them look at a HW97-

HW97 DOWDY LOOKING BY COMPARISON- not ugly-but plain Germanic looking-Roast beef vs sausage

Thanks for all the comments. I do think I’ll hold out for the TX. I mostly didn’t want to be waiting many more months if it is discontinued. The orders I have in now are still active so I’ll just wait. You’ve all given encouragement. Thank you!

I have had all 3 of the TX200s and sold my last one the other day and kept my 97 HWK.  A 97 and a TX2003 I think are equal guns except for loading and I think the 97 comes out on top here!

I ordered my TX200  from Pyramyd in April of this year and recieved it in late May. Mine is the .22 in RH walnut. By the way, I absolutely love it to the point that I'm neglecting my other airguns. This gun is far more accurate than I deserve. The only answer is practice, practice, practice  (heh, heh, heh).

Why don't you contact Air Arms directly?  A few years ago I did and they responded quickly.
Ask "the horse's mouth" if they have been discontinued.  Ask them if they are still in production, who will get they next shipment.

My question to them, concerning a particular AA springer, with a serial number, went unanswered forever.

Right now, I have a simple question pending at another leading airgun company. A month + into the "effort", and no answer.

I know people mean well when they, a little frustrated, tell people to Just Ask the Company. Sadly, it doesn't work out like that in many cases, or even most of the time.

Ordered a new .177, right hand walnut Wed after lunch. Recieved Thursday mid morning. Less than 12 hours. Ohio to Pa by UPS. Mounted scope this morning, worked all day cleaning up yard for winter, took it out on the deck right before dark. First shot resting on my hand over railing 10 inches straight high. Second 3 in high. Third about 1/4 From dead center at 7 o'clock. Fourth went through the third hole, at about 13 yards. Tomorrow I will go to range and shoot some 25 yd groups. Happy TX200 first timer. Centerfire benchrest competitor for many years looking forward to this challange. Far cry from my nitro piston Rem. I have been using for pest control.

Don't trust ebay on prices

Last Christmas I paid $610 TOTAL- $50 SHIPPING  $50 SALES TAX- for a NIB .177 LH WALNUT TX200- ebay

This was 8-9 months into the "price is going up because of COVID" fear.

I have noticed that some TX200s I followed on ebay-would sell-then would suddenly re-appear on ebay-same seller.

Don't know why anyone would pay $900 for a TX200- other than being prettier-much prettier-they are more or less same gun as the HW 97 HW 77-same trigger same weight-same feel

Now I like pretty-but not $400 worth of like

-Krale is selling 97 and 77 for under $500 delivered.

I don't think I can tell my TX200 trigger from my HW 77K's trigger-now it is MUCH PRETTIER-MUCH!! But not $400 prettier

Just wait it out-prices will drop-

The same reason Sheridan Blue Streaks are now selling towards $400 for a gun you could buy for $200 or less a year ago.

My experience has been just the opposite.  Early this year I special ordered both the Air Arms TX200 and the Weihrauch HW97K blue laminate. After waiting a few months I contacted Air Arms directly and received detailed shipping information about the model gun I ordered. I received it shortly afterwards. Right out of the box I buried 5 shots in the bull at 25 yards, and I'm a rookie. I absolutely adore this gorgeous gun. I'm proud to own such a fine rifle.  I'm still waiting for the Weihrauch so I can't offer an opinion of it but I'm looking forward to it.

Hoosier- supply and demand?

Has Air Arms  cut production-because of Covid 19 employee problems-too few workers?

If that is so then why is Weihrauch having no similar problem?

Brits more fearful of gathering in factories than Germans??

Or do the Brits have more generous  unemployment benefits??

Now the TX200-especially in Walnut-is GORGEOUS-I love mine despite it requiring a scope-it shoots dead on and I take it out of the closet everyday just to stare at it

It is so pretty I forgave it its quality control problems(we owned a 1962 Brit carMG1100 -Prince of Darkness electrical components-Lucas Electrics) but it was "pretty" in a dowdy way-real wood

dash  Toggle switches just like James Bond's Bentley(OK not exactly like it but my 14 year old head saw it that way)-anyway so pretty I forgive it shaking loose the stock and  poorly installed

cocking links)Yeah sooo pretty and such a sweet trigger I could almost see paying $900 for it-ALMOST-Weihrauch rifles are dowdy by comparison(but functionally are as good)

She was accurate and I received my gun right around when she said I could expect it.

Did she-Sheila Cooper- give any hints on the WHY of the Shortage?

Or even if there is a shortage?

Maybe a perceived shortage has driven up demand??

I see why they are more desirable  than Weihrauch products-they LOOK BETTER- and looks sell.

I am not a good enough shot to tell which one is more consistent-  but it is easy to tell which one looks the best

Thanks

Nope, I have been wanting an Air Arms Springer to match my S400 PCP for some time and when I saw Kernbigo's in the GTA Classifieds I contacted him.
That lead a search here on GTA for more information on it.... which is what brought me to this thread.

"Hi David,

Thank you for your enquiry and interest in our products.  We have seen a huge increase in interest in our products over the past 9-12 months, and as soon as products are manufactured and dispatched than they are sold.  It's a good position to be in, but not if you are trying to find product available.

According to our records we shipped a quantity of TX200 .177  with Beech stock at the end of May, so they  should land mid to end of June.

Regarding the S510 XS .177 with walnut stock, these are on order, and we are expecting to dispatch at the end of June, so should arrive in the States mid to end of July.

Nice note-I wonder if this is an indication of their customer service?

So she flat says there is a HUGE increase in interests in their air rifles.

Guess folks are turning to air rifles during the "STAY HOME"  part of epidemic

and since the vaccine is becoming somewhat less effective this epidemic will not go away anytime soon.

Who would have figured-an epidemic with a HUGE death toll- driving up sales of pricey air rifles

Makes sense of course-but I certainly would not have predicted it 21 months ago when I read about a "bad virus" in China(Jan 2020)

Thanks

Charlie,
I believe it is the lack of PB ammo availability that is driving up airgun sales.
Which of course is because of the lack of raw materials and workforce.... caused by the pandemic.

Charlie,

I've exchanged a few more emails with AA since then. They always respond to me quickly, with helpful answers and comments. I've no complaints. It's the way I try to run my own business and respect it in others.

Im not in the airgun business but mine has more than doubled since the beginning of Covid. I didn't see it coming. I've been doing everything I know to keep up because I've gone from a 4-6 month backlog to 22-24 months. Clients tell me they still have disposable income and have just shifted it from where they can't spend it, like vacations, to where they can, like home improvements.  The increase in demand, and scarcity of materials, like Scott said, have driven prices up across the board. I've raised the prices of my own products 40% not only because of material prices, but also to slow down incoming orders. Orders for my lower priced less profitable products have almost disappeared but orders for my high end, more profitable products has increased. It's bittersweet. Business is great, but people are dying. I imagine this is what's happening with the Airgun industry and many others. Will I lower prices 'if' things slow down. Maybe, but I'm confident that won't happen for quite a while. I've been in business for myself for 30 years and believe what we are experiencing is the new normal.

Right-I hadn't considered how many firearms shooters were once air rifle shooters(me for one-and 99.999% of the rest of the forum)-and rediscovering their first love

David-funny I have been following the price of wood for the last 10 months-

the commodity price peaked at about $1700/1000 board feet  several months back

-today it is about $700 -pre-covid I think it was $350 or so

Following it because I am getting ready to attempt to fix my 60 year old tub drain plumbing-

Rusted out and is mostly plugged-takes forever to drain-and it OVERFLOWING UNDER the lin=ol=e-um tile in the kitchen-lifting it up-rotting out any wood it touches

Yeah-new normal is higher prices-

I did the same thing. I ordered my TX200 LH in April from PA and contacted them a couple times in July and they couldn't give me any updates. So I sent AA an e mail inquiring about US orders and LH .177's in particular. Shelia replied and told me what had been sent in their July shipment and what was going to be in the August shipment. She later sent me an e mail confirming that the August shipment had been sent. After a couple weeks I contacted PA again, the lady was kinda rude to me, pretty much telling me don't call us we'll call you. I then read her the e mail from AA and she didn't have much more to say. Two days later I got a conformation e mail that my rifle had shipped.

These guns are expensive and lefties have to pay the LH penalty, no beech lefty stocks, only walnut. My rifle was $849 when I ordered it and had gone up to $899 by July or early August. PA honored the original price.

I'm thinking my next air rifle order will be through Krales.

A ~50-dollar retail price hike seems to have happened across a wide range of springers. Of course, with a 200-dollar Cometa, the price increase stings more than with a 800-dollar AA.
